Changed out the clock spring and installed new component speakers. Adding in a new subwoofer and a couple amplifiers as soon as i can drill a big enough hole through the firewall. I have light cables running through the one access hole so i will have to figure out another place to bring the power cables in. Just ran out of daylight today.

OK. So I learned something else today. Before I started diving deep into this forum and absorbing knowledge, I had changed the spark plugs and put in something O'Reilly's had that they said worked for the 2004 3.7L Liberty - E3 brand. Since then, the engine ran rough at idle - almost feeling like a cylinder wasn't firing. It's been mentioned several times here to only use the NGK plugs that Chrysler recommended for the Liberty. Easy purchase & easiest to start trouble shooting. But before I replaced the plugs again I checked to make sure all of the plugs at the coils were fully inserted properly. No help, so I pulled out the E3's and put in the NGK's. Fixed it. Purrs like a kitten now with no skipping or rough idle.

Over Thanksgiving drove a few miles , down to get my wife in Winston Salem NC
Up and back to my sons 125 miles away 3 times
taking wife back down etc
All in all over 2100 miles , and never missed a beat running ( somewhat :) ) over the speed limit at times
Not bad for a 17 year old KJ with over 160,000 on it
and oil level still right where it was when I changed it 3000 miles ago

EVERY chrysler i've owned, that doesn't have a mitsushitsi or ****** motor in it, has always been particular about using the proper champion or NGK plugs in them. step outside recommendation at your peril.

So a recap of today....changed out the wrong plugs for the correct NGK plugs, repaired a leak under the front cowl (again) - driver's side this time, made a back shelf (plans elsewhere on this forum) out of 3/4" plywood (scrap I had in the garage already), and repaired the rear window defroster tab that came off (used a Permatex kit I bought).

Funny story - I went to the local Home Depot to buy a piece of dark gray carpet to cover the shelf. No remnants in any color close to that so I bought a piece of new indoor/outdoor @ $.50 a sq ft./$4.50 sq yd. Of course I had no choice but to buy the width they have (12' wide) so I ended up getting a piece 12' wide by 3 feet long - which comes out to 36 sq ft or 4 sq yds. And that should have cost $18. The guy who cut it for me rolls it up, wraps it with tape and writes the sku# and yards on the tape. I check out....and they charge me $1.49 for the carpet. I was confused - but not enough to challenge it. Who am I to argue price! I get home and look at the carpet. The guy at HD wrote on the tape I had .33 yards. .33@$4.50 = $1.49. I call it a late Black Friday deal!

Changed the oil, transfer case fluid and front diff fluid.
Also rotated the tires

deadlined the battery, again. left the rear camera plugged into the rear outlet in back.
I gotta make an effort to get the hard wire kits installed already, so that doesn't keep happening.

Snow and 17 degrees this morning
Left for my 45 minute drive to work, drove 5 miles, turned around, put the 03 back in garage and went back to bed :)
May try again tomorrow
;)


The 03 wasn't complaining, I was LOL

Got loads of snow here as well, KJ's still ripped apart in the garage. So had to take the 2WD F-150 to work. Needless to say that sucked.
Back in the 70s had a 75 F150 2WD, installed good real snow tires all around , 300 lb of sand bags in the bed and went everywhere :)
had a 24 mile drive to work over some twisty, hilly roads, never missed a day

so, I want to get a big bundle of wiring, from the engine bay passenger side, all the way back to the middle of the rear bumper, without going inside the cabin. one of the cables in the bundle is the AC extension cord for the block heater hookup. I'm worried about dropping down next to the exhaust, due to the potential for heat. Should i just get some thermotec wrap to put on the harness, or does anyone have any suggestions for getting something that needs an opening at least big enough for an AC 3-prong cord head to get through? I could maybe go down the driver's side, but I think you can only install the block heater in passenger side of the block.

Power went out at 3 AM and came back on around 2 PM. Then went out briefly 3-4 times all afternoon. Then went out again at 7:30 and didn't come back on until 10:30. Over a foot of snow here.

And Sota, I was thinking of you while running my snowblower this afternoon. You could have paid off your mortgage plowing driveways up here today. :D

30 yrs ago, I loved it and drive my 77 F150 2wd til I got stuck. My buddy pulled me out and off again!

These days, i consider it a personal victory if I don’t have to mount my plow to the truck.

maybe it is age, maybe it is having to maintain a half-mile gravel private drive.

If we get snow here, I’ll push some to you!

bro, if I had a small, well insulated sleeper camper I could tow behind the jeep, I'd seriously think about doing journeyman plowing like that.
couple years ago when VA got murdered, there were a bunch of us trying to figure out how to get down there and plow. My think was, I'd need someone to have already done the route and sleeping arrangement legwork, for a cut of the pie of course.

not young, closer to the 50s than the 40s, but still liking the challenge aspect of plowing. plus the $ is pretty decent.
