If they'd let me put up a couple big-ass sheds for storage/workshops, I'd SO be there. Hermit living here I come!
Has a 40X80 Quonset hut right next, well 60 foot from house, and it is heated as well, plus 32X48 storage shed across the road
all tools supplied, welders, cutting torches, 3 big tool boxes, lots of tools

Only one issue, they want to hire a 25 year old with 45 years of experience LOL

How fast does your coolant disappear? If it takes weeks, you might have a bad water pump. Coolant can slowly drip out the weep hole, but then only when it’s running. In that case it evaporates quickly and it can be hard to trace.

Found the leak. Leaking from the hose coming off the core where it's press fit to the metal line under the reservoir, which why I didn't see it at first. Going to order the Dorman one from Amazon. Dorman# 626-516 only $105. Was thinking on just running heater hose till I saw the res line ties into the metal line.

Nice find! Mystery solved.

I haven’t had good luck with Dorman products in the past. I know it costs more, but if you could find a Mopar hose, you won’t be fixing it again in the near future.

Today is flush and bleed the entire brake system. Fingers crossed the penetrating oil did it's job overnight on the bleed ports. A power bleeder is a wonderful thing to move lots of fluid fast. :) If that goes well, I'll rip the rotten cat back exhaust off in anticipation of the new system's arrival. That garage is chilly this time of the year. Made a work platform from a 4x8 sheet of plywood, some remnant padding and indoor/outdoor carpet stapled down to lay on. *shiver*

I'm too old and wise to work uncomfortably now.

Lots of stuff on the TBD list for this new to me 2002 KJ to build a baseline for servicing. Maintenance parts will be flooding in over the next few days. Wheels and tires got ordered yesterday, should be a week for those to show up. The OEM steelies were rusted bad.

not sure if this works but.

has anyone tried taking that hose assembly to a local hydraulic shop to see what the cost would be to remove the old hoses and replace with new ones?

might do it unless the metal section has rusted away

Heh, penetrating fluid for the win. Brakes are bled of 18 year old fluid and the pedal feels strong again. While I was under there, the two nuts holding the muffler/tailpip on and up were removed. It's going out to the trash on Monday. New system is due in tomorrow.

Now, what do I do this afternoon? :rolleyes:

Me: It's warm outside, I think I'll quickly get those tow hooks back on the GC. 25 minutes, half hour tops.

...oh yeah, I forgot. gotta take off the lower front fascia.

...and the front skid plate

...impact wrench batteries are dead, should have charged them over night

...and push the inner fender shields out of the way

...and stand on my head while I twist my left wrist 180 degrees to reach the back nut.

...which keeps slipping off because all I have that big is a crescent wrench.

...and then put everything back together

I have some great tape here to build boats out of, bet it will seal that muffler right up !! ;)

Um, I think that muffler's been done for at least a year. Maybe more :eek:

Ya think? lol it was an interesting drive home after buying this one. Heat on full, front windows open a few inches and sunroof full open. 40 miles one way and heavy exhaust fumes streaming in.

New rear shocks today. Noticed I need to order upper & lower spring isolators and bump-stops.

Where do I start?

New:

Serpentine belt (BIG fan of the tensioner system)
Wiper blades
Tail light bulbs replaced with LED along with the new bulb holder that was burnt up
Power steering flush
PCV valve replaced after hunting for 30 minutes for it.
New headlight/fog light bulbs


Went back to Autozone to swap out the incorrect PS fluid I originally purchased
Got fresh fluids for the axles/transfer case and power steering to be done tomorrow
Tried to get new NGK plugs, but all they had were platinums - 6 for $40 - passed on that


Hands washed, cold Coke opened and settling in to relax until Brown shows up with the cat back system. :D Gotta pace myself, yannow?

OH! I managed to get an appointment at our licensing office to swap the title and plate it tomorrow!

No new springs :(

OME springs were already on the to-be-purchased list. But I didn't really visualize how bad the isolators & disintegrated the bump-stops were until I removed the rear wheels & changed the shocks today.Can only afford so much every month, so the front springs/shocks/bump-stops and the rear springs, and the front driver's half-axle/CV joint (torn boot for unknown amount of time) will be done late January. Next up when new money comes in - new tires all around, broken wheel stud being replaced and start ordering SOME of the suspension parts needed for late January.

Just received the rebuild kit for the front drive shaft...starting on that tomorrow.

I know the feeling, I bought the 04 new, paid cash, then after blowing my nest egg had to save and order the OME lift over the next few months ;)
