2003 jeep liberty 45rfe transmission TCM swap to a 545rfe???
I know it has been done for fact on older Grand Cherokees and Rams. You are correct, no difference but programming. Theoretically it should be doable (TCM's aren't VIN dependent) but will you actually get any use out of the extra overdrive gear (that's all it does, gives you 5th gear)? I...- 04Liberty

Yes and no lol...free engine yes, but without the vehicle for a good long while. Also it was a Commander, so replacing windshields was a regular thing as well.- 04Liberty

It did, the dealer had it trying to figure out what was wrong and gave to back to them just in time to grenade, I'm sure it was already on the way out when they got it back. The water pump thing was found on the post-mortem. They got an engine out of it since that part was directly attributed...- 04Liberty

Friend of mine blew up a 3.7 and neither he nor the dealer could figure it why it kept overheating til they figured out the plastic impeller was spinning on the shaft (or more accurately the pulley shaft was spinning inside the plastic impeller). Removed "torque management" on my 3.7...
My Ram liked it, the trans itself not so much lol (original trans lasted 105,000). Hemi puts a bit too much to fully disable TM and expect the trans to live forever.- 04Liberty

Looking for a good performance 45rfe replacement trans
Do they tune out 2P from kickdown? That's one of the biggest issues, 2P uses the same clutch set as OD (and of course it's the weakest set in the case).- 04Liberty
