If the oil pan is going to be the biggest clearance issue, you could go with a dry sump on the LS...
Not doing that. Not putting money into the LS to make it fit unless it involves only swapping to a different pan. Only reason I am attempting this is because I I have the complete powertrain and all the accessories. If I had to buy all this shit for the swap, it wouldn't happen. Only reason I even considered it is because I have had this LS stuff forever and wanted to put it into something. Since I already have to pull the motor out of one jeep to swap the motor from another jeep I figured I would go ahead and try to test fit the LS and see what happens. I know I'll spend money on things like having driveshafts made and stuff like that but I'm not getting into it big money shit just to make it work. It's just not worth it for reasons you stated earlier. if I go back with the 3.7 stuff, I'm just selling it when I'm done swapping everything. I will have a shit ton of extra parts to go with the jeep too.
