I finally got my wheels back from powder coating last week and wrapped them with the nittos that have been hoggin the corner of my garage for weeks! They are absolutely sick on the KJ! I'm so pleased with the stance, look, ride, drivability, and just crazy bad attitude this rig ended up with...
Tom I chose to remove the brake caliper mounts because the ones that came one salvage one were rusted to crap and bent up.
I haven't trimmed the bumpstops yet but do plan to, did anyone else every buy a set of JBA's extended rear bump stops and them not come with nuts for the bolts? I had to...
All models are interchangeable the only difference is some 03 and some 04 have cv style joint instead of universal joints on the driveshaft. Lkq you just have to make and an account and orde just like any other web store and it's super fast shipping. But they change extra to ship it to your...
I purchased a front differential axle assembly from a 2004 2.4L Sport KJ with factory 4.10 gear ratio from a local salvage yard for $395.00. I also purchased a rear axle assembly from a 2005 2.4L Sport KJ with factory 4.10 gear ratio through LKQ Online for $350.00 shipped to a commercial...
Dang I didn't notice that til now, do you guys think if I changed the bushing I would need realignment?
Well I ended up taking one of the rear iso's out to the get it to sit how I wanted. So that will help but screw Bilsteins, I ran them on my old KJ and my pickup and they both road terribly...
I had to beat mine to death with a hammer there was no prying it off but once it was demolished I clipped the snap ring off and slid the old joint off right into the trash then cleaned the shaft and installed the new boot new joint new grease and new cover and was good to go!
Yes tom, it worked pretty well, it takes some finesse but I got it in with no major issues. I'll post pics on another thread I'm planning on writing up once I get the rear installed but basically I removed all the bolts holding the from diff in except the two in the from backing up to the LCA, I...
3 per side all though I will likely remove one of them on each side of the read doesn't settle with my tool box installed because it's sitting a hair to high in the back for my taste I really need the back to sit at 22" even to be level with the front.
The front diff was not too hard to...
This may be posted elsewhere but it helped me tremendously so wanted to share it incase someone finds this thread

I got one of these to install with my lift next weekend, after reading through this thread twice I really hope I don't have a lot of trouble lol. Also does anyone have suggestions for specific brands or versions of u joints I'm going to replace mine when I lift and axle swap because who knows...
You can usually buy remanufactured cv's pretty cheap if you turn in your old ones as core charges. I would suggest doing that over trying to fix a cross thread issue by rethreading. For one that 36mm axle nut is going to take a monster die to rethread and it will probably greatly reduce the...
My new limited kj is white and i'm in the process of lifting it, going to 4.10's, and running 265/75R16's on black powder coated moab's so I've been calling it the STORMTROOPER since its all black and white
Buy it and swap to a 4wd transmission and transfer case add a front differential with cv axles and 4wd hubs and have a 4wd! you could probably do that for $2000. It would be a lot of work but you could help your friend, get a good reliable rig that you know has been well taken care of, and come...
