Four Peaks Clean Up... Feb 6, 2010

This quote was taken from the first Four Peaks cleanup effort, held in Feb of 2008, says it all... "If you ever enjoy the outdoors for hiking, mountain biking, 4-wheeling, hunting or shooting, then you have probably shaken your head in disgust when others dump trash at trailheads and across...

    TJ 5spd. trans.(ax-15 mod.)problem

I had the same problem with my '99 TJ. When it got down in the 40's (that's cold for Phoenix) it was harder shifting until it warmed up... so no real problem as far as I was concerned.

Capability of KJ in stock form?

You'd be surprised where a stock height Liberty with good tires and full skids can go. The driver's skill also plays a big part. Here are some PICTURES from Moab of Silverdiesel's Liberty, with only a 1" lift....

Question for the JK peeps: Is the 3.8 good, bad or ugly?

With the 6-speed = BAD. My 4 cyl 5 speed '99 TJ was better.

    Wierd Mirror Problem

Had the same issue about a year ago. Checked switches etc, everything was okay. Replaced both mirrors and they worked fine. Strange that both went at the same time.

    White Tanks wheelin', Arizona

Wow, that's some crowd you're running with!! BTW... Roland mentioned something to me today about the rock rails you're having made and maybe interested if the $$$ is right. If it is, I may also be interested in a set for my KJ.

    Ouch!!

Highway carnage = $470.00. I'm driving down the freeway and a truck next to me runs over some road debris which jumps up and takes out my fender flare, parking light assembly and part of the bumper. At least there was no sheet metal damage....

Backway to Crown King... Nov 27 '09...

Never had a bad run, they're all good!! Seriously, we had fun as usual. The trail is always changing year to year. This is the roughest I've ever seen it. We'd be more than happy to have you along anytime. Check out LOST. We post most all the runs over there. Next one is a Toys for Tots...

    JK Transmission

Only cosmetic changes and new colors for the 2010 models. They've also dropped the X (don't know where they ever came up with that name) and are calling it a Sport.

    JK Transmission

The JK only comes in a 6-speed stick and a four speed auto. Next time I'll look more closely at the build sheet before I buy. As stated above, the gears on my X are 3:21 front and back. When you re-gear you have to do both axles. The front axle in my X is a Dana 30 and the rear is a Dana 44...

    JK Transmission

I have an '08 JK X with the anemic 3.8L engine, 6-speed transmission and 3:21 gears. Two words... "IT SUCKS"!!! On the trail I have to put it in 4low to get over the smallest obstacle, or make it up even a minor hill. Maybe a Rubicon with better gears would perform better than my X. I've never...

Backway to Crown King... Nov 27 '09...

El Camino del Diablo (the Devil‘s Highway)… Oct 2~5 2009

We're back from chasing down the Devil on his own highway!! It was a fun trip across the harsh and desolute country of the Sonoran Desert. Other than the Border Patrol, and a few wild critters, we saw no one else the entire weekend. A few pictures from our 137 mile trip across El Camino del...

El Camino del Diablo (the Devil‘s Highway)… Oct 2~5 2009

Update: For those of you who can't take off four days to do this trip, it just dawned on me I should of posted the dates for the trip as Oct 3~4 and left it up to everyone when they wanted to head down to Ajo and meet up. Ajo is less than a 2 hour drive from Phoenix. You could leave Phoenix...

El Camino del Diablo (the Devil‘s Highway)… Oct 2~5 2009

Hey!! If you want to do MRE's and weenie beanies, I'm all for it. You gonna supply the MRE's, or how about C-rations??? :D On another note... I haven't decided if we're going to get our permits in Phoenix or Ajo. We may just get them here and meet you for breakfast first thing Saturday...

El Camino del Diablo (the Devil‘s Highway)… Oct 2~5 2009

Here is a LINK to some cool pictures taken by another group that crossed the Devil's Highway. Talk about being well equipped!! It looks like they spent almost the same amount of time cooking as they did on the trail. Lol... and I thought I was doing good with grilled marinated ribeye...
