    Help with mystery front driveshaft

Thanks for the pics - my TC flange looks just like the top one but with 6 threaded holes instead of 8. You've reassured me that I could go with a standard driveshaft if it came to it. And that XJ 4-bolt flange is a different pattern than mine - as I said, mine is a 6-bolt "pattern" on the...

    Help with mystery front driveshaft

Hmm, what makes you think the flange on the t-case got changed? Looks like the standard driveshaft flange is 6-bolt and mine, while only 4 bolts, is a also 6-bolt pattern. I wish I had measured that flange and bolt pattern while I had the driveshaft off now - if something breaks on the trail...

    Help with mystery front driveshaft

Figured I should put this thread to bed. I finally got sick of the squeaking and reached out to Mako Driveshafts (Oakland Park, FL) for help. Steve was amazing and helped me figure out what parts I needed. The ball seat repair kit is Spicer 10018465 (or equivalent) and the U-joints are Spicer...

Do I have the parts correct for my lift kit and what is the difference between front and rear height

I just looked at RRO and JBA websites. Not seeing what you're seeing. A pair of UCAs from RRO is $449. A pair of UCAs from JBA is $475. As u2slow mentioned they seem to be basically identical with the nod maybe going to JBA for their reputation of outstanding customer service. As I mentioned...

Do I have the parts correct for my lift kit and what is the difference between front and rear height

What I meant to say was that the RROs are not better than the JBAs. I initially did my lift with the stock UCAs but the passenger side one was hitting the spring so I bought the RROs (it was during the pandemic and the RROs were slightly cheaper and they were able to get them to me a few weeks...

Do I have the parts correct for my lift kit and what is the difference between front and rear height

No benefit to the RROs. Mine have been fine and I had no issues with the company but some on here don't like them. Go with the JBAs for sure.

Do I have the parts correct for my lift kit and what is the difference between front and rear height

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't think the spacers will do any of those things. I'm intrigued by those longer CV axles but note that Rock Auto has them for cheaper and those who have tried them say the boots (outer I think) fail quickly so if you go that way you should look at replacement...

Do I have the parts correct for my lift kit and what is the difference between front and rear height

It's been a while since I did my (very similar) lift (2020, 8,000 miles ago). I think I got about 3" of lift on the OME springs but that was from a baseline of 20 year old worn out factory springs. At the time I suspected that OME under reported the lift you would get from their springs for...

Need help identifying these control arms so i can refurbish them and replace the ball joints.

They look just like RRO control arms too which also use the Moog K-6292 ball joint. Bottom line, you're probably safe going with Moog K-6292. If in doubt you could take one of the ball joints to your local Auto parts store and compare them alongside the Moogs if they have them in stock. My RRO...

    3-5 inch lift

I'm a bit late to the party here. I think I got more than advertised (around 3") lift in the rear with OME / Bilstein and added 3 conduit nuts on top of the clevis to raise the front to the same. I don't think I'd want to go higher - already borderline scary in off-camber situations like Duderz7...

Asking those who have done their own paint job at home

I did the same with a 71 Mustang years ago. It looked OK from a distance but the Maaco painter failed to get the low areas properly and you could see some gray primer through the paint if you got down on your hands and knees. Results probably depend on the skill and attitude of the guy doing the...

    2004 KJ 4x4 OME/Bilstein Lift

You might get lucky but when I did the same my front spring on the passenger side would hit the stock UCA under certain circumstances (backing out my driveway at full steering lock was one. It would happen multiple times on a rough 4x4 trail too). I ended up installing some RRO UCAs which fixed...

    4x4 shifting issue

I'm guessing the difference is that you have the Command Trac 4wd system (231 transfer case?) without part time 4wd and I have the Selec Trac 4wd system (242 transfer case?) with part time 4wd and the bushings are different.

    4x4 shifting issue

I was assuming your problem was at the transfer case but it sounds like it's at the other end of the cable at the shifter? Is that correct?

    4x4 shifting issue

Hopefully you got it working, at least temporarily. The stealership will likely want $40 to $50 for a $2 piece of plastic if you buy a new bushing from them. If you can wait a week or 2 Fleabay has aftermarket ones that are probably just as good and a lot cheaper...

    Engine swap

My apologies if my post came across as a criticism - wasn't meant that way. I don't think you did anything wrong or made a bad decision - seems you just got really unlucky, twice, which totally *****. And I see that Tristar remans their engines in the US, not south of the border. I guess the...

Front end Qs re new KJ

The KK clevis seems to be available here for $43.55 ea + shipping: https://www.moparpartsoverstock.com/p/jeep__Liberty/CLEVIS-Front-Cast/13722698/52125312AB.html However, I've bought some stuff off these sites before and turned out after purchasing it wasn't in stock so who knows. Looks like...

    4x4 shifting issue

I'm going off memory but if you locate the transfer case at the output of the transmission I believe the linkage is in the gap between the input from the transmission and where it turns back towards the front differential so it's in a bit of a tight spot. If you have a transfer case skid plate...

Front end Qs re new KJ

I doubt anyone would make an aftermarket version but they do appear to be available new OEM at online Mopar stores, like this one. https://www.moparpartsoverstock.com/p/Jeep_2003_Liberty37L-Power-Tech-V6-AT-4X4SPORT/CLEVIS-Front-Mounting--Right-or-Left--Shock/13731122/52088748AC.html I consider...

Front end Qs re new KJ

That would be the clevis. I see they're still available new some places ($222 ea!!!) but I'd just get a used pair from somewhere west of the rust belt. I do see a rust belt pair on ebay for $115 and they look to be in good shape.
