    KJ vs Nissan Xterra

I actually wanted an xterra back in 04 and was waiting for a year end sale when I checked out a KJ which was 4k cheaper with the same options. They both have IFS for the front and in 04 the xterra had the 3.5 engine with less H.P. and poorer milage than the libby if I recall correctly...

    Standard Tranny Oil

    Standard Tranny Oil

You will need 4.2 pints of synchromesh trans. fluid, there is a write-up somewhere either here or the lostkj site on the tools needed.Go with the synthetic oil,you will need a 14 and 17 mm hex wrench and a pump to get the fluid in..

    P038 Code

I replaced the same one last year on my 04,Very easy to get to and was cheap in price also-I think about $40,Used a scanner to reset mine after replacement-no problems since. This was much better than my old mazda which the sensors were over $200.

    How long can I wait..

Just got an alignment today,Lifted the KJ last week,My front end shop could not get within specs for the caster but my alignment was way off-(Rustys coil lift w/2conduit nuts). My front sits about 1 in. lower than the rear right now so I'll get the the new upper a-arms when I put a couple more...

    Rusty's lift

You may have coil to ball joint contact if you add the front spacers you have listed,I have the rusty's with a small clevis lift added ( 2 conduit washers) and at full droop I have about 1/8in away from contact.

    Possible water infiltration.....causing electrical problems

There is a large rubber grommet where a large bundle of wires run through the firewall,It's location is under the brake & clutch cylinder and very tough to get back on if someone popped if off. The shop who installed my alarm system ran some wires through this grommet and didn't re-install it...

    Spark Plugs

Use OEM ngk's,They work the best and less than 2 dollars each,Stay away from the fancy gimmick plugs,The libby needs new plugs every 30k.

    Is the liberty really rugged?

Owned mine for almost 4 years without any problems-Will never buy anything but 4wd since buying the KJ. Also own a honda civic which was good for about 125k, now it seems I do repairs every couple months-all costly. The gas mileage is a small issue but I feel much safer driving the KJ and...

Manual vs Auto - Fuel Rating

Yeah most of the time just coasting in neutral,We have lots of hills here and going down some long hills here over a mile long at 65 mph,it's 700 rpm's rather than in 5th gear at 2200 rpm's saves some big time fuel, also around town just coasting to the stop signs helps.

Manual vs Auto - Fuel Rating

I own an 04 with the 5 speed manual and I feel I can do alot better than the rating.I find you can do alot of coasting and shift at a little lower rpm than the auto,I've been getting in the mid 20's for mpg's since new with some drop-off when the plugs start getting worn..

    Rusty Lift Kit Shock/Strut Replacement

Did you not buy rusty's shocks when you bought your kit?,I just placed an order minus his rear shocks and he said the ranchos would void the warranty on the rear coils,I told him many others are running that setup and pleased with it..

    O2 Sensor?

tjkj2002 is correct on the location of the bad o2 sensor,The socket cost about 12 dollars and the sensor is about 35 dollars,I replaced one of mine 6 months ago without any problems,I also purchased a code reader for about $50--well worth the investment since I have 5 vehicles in my household -...

    Engine Oil Quantity Question

I'd give them a call just for my own piece of mind,Too much oil can cause damage, also I would want my 6th qt of oil - the stuff isn't so cheap. Ditto with the filter being really tight,It took me 2 hours to finally get the original filter off.
