Wrong Coolant-Now I've gone and done it..............

oh, and Jeesh, coolant has gotten complicated since i invoulantary retired! i think i liked it when there was only one coolant.

Wrong Coolant-Now I've gone and done it..............

" HOAT coolants, like the IAT coolants, require additives mixed back into the coolant system every 25k miles, or as specified by the engine manufacturer." so what do i have to put back into the coolant every 25,000 miles?

    Rear Diff Trac Lok- Information

how do i determine if my rear axle has a "posi ,sure grip, or any number of other names) in it without opening the axle cover or purposely trying tp spin the wheels (which is a terribly inaccurate way of testing) ? is there a tag on the axle, or a build sheet someplace i can find all the little...

Wrong Coolant-Now I've gone and done it..............

#1) I AM NOT trying to start an argument, or be an a$$. what i AM trying to do, is learn about my new vehicle. i downloaded and looked up the service manual. in it it, if i read it correctly, that the coolant is ethylene glycol, and the HOAT is an additive. if i am not mistaken, regular...

Wrong Coolant-Now I've gone and done it..............

"I used Stop Leak in my very old vehicles circa about 1966....to temporary fix leaks before trading them in to get a newer vehicle!" yep, the thick and gooey Bars Leak complete with rabbit pellets! my dad used that stuff in our old cars, it was his "go to" for any kind of cooling system...

Wrong Coolant-Now I've gone and done it..............

I am sure it was Suzuki's way of heading off warranty claims. if a radiator has a tiny pin hole in it, and you spin the engine up to and in some cases over 14,000 rpm, there is going to be a significant amount of water pressure (not cooling system pressure) just from the coolants resistance to...

Wrong Coolant-Now I've gone and done it..............

is there a certain cooling system flush i should use? and what about stop leak? i was a motorcycle mechanic for 40 years (disabled back in 2003 due to a back injury) and we were instructed to instal a canister of the silver powder stop leak anytime the coolant was replaced. is that something i...

    Coolant Pressure relief???

it might be 16, i seldom wear my glasses when working on cars. so 16 and 18 look (to my old eyes) pretty much the same.

Wrong Coolant-Now I've gone and done it..............

Well, being the old man living under a rock that I am, I made a possibly serious mistake. when I bought my Liberty last week, the coolant was low, so I added enough regular (yellow-green) Prestone antifreeze to top it off. no bog deal, until 3 minutes ago while looking at the required fluids...

    Coolant Pressure relief???

ok, yesterday i installed a new set of spark plugs in my (3.7L) Liberty, and of course you have to remove the coolant bottle to get to the last 2 on the passenger side. no big deal, 2 nuts and 2 clamps. but while i had it off, it occurred to me that there is no place for pressure to go if it...

    180 degree thermostat?

" If you have the mechanical fan then I wouldnt worry about cooling capacity of the engine, worry about the transmission. Mine routinely gets near 230F when towing, which is too high for the little bit if towing I do. Never had the light come on though. " ok, that WAS going to be another worry...

    180 degree thermostat?

so i am wondering if running a 180 degree thermostat in my 2005 3.7l engine would mess with the computer bad enough to throw a error code, or otherwise screw up the engine or computer management in some other way? don't get me wrong, i like a good heater as much as anyone else. but i am not a...

    Renegade roof lights?

Hmmmmm, spot lights have their place, I had a pair of Cibie pencil beams on the front of my hot rod 40 years ago. I could see stop signs (well, tiny red reflective dots anyway) 5 miles away. which is a good thing when your driving 150+ mph at night. But spot lights would be less than ideal for...

    Renegade roof lights?

Hi, I have several questions about the factory mounted roof lights that are on the Renegades. are they adjustable to change where the beams hit? both in elevation, and side to side? also, will I have to upgrade the alternator to keep up with the extra power loss (I am assuming they are 55 watt...

well, new to me KJ Liberty

boy, is that a pain in the @$$ to get off. i i went and bought a new switch, because i thought i would have to get UGLY to it. but the new switch showed me what to do in order to PRY the connector off after removing the little red tab. which was almost impossible to see.

well, new to me KJ Liberty

yep, found it. thanks. now all i have to do is figure out how to unlatch the electrical connector. i think there must be 275,000 different connectors with 325,000 different ways of locking them in place. i'm dating myself here, but when i was learning mechanics from my dad, the oil light sensor...

well, new to me KJ Liberty

so i am thinking that an oil pressure gauge would not be a bad thing to have. does anyone know where to connect a mechanical adapter (engine block)? old Chrysler v-8's were in the top back of the block. but there is so much back there on this thing, that i don't want to go diving in back there...

well, new to me KJ Liberty

so yesterday, after a couple of close calls with my expiring GMC Jimmy, we bought a 2005 Liberty. the seller drove the Jeep to us. as i really didn't feel safe driving the jimmy anywhere (the brakes were failing). anyway, it has some issues that i know of. and we negotiated a price based on...

    Newbie 102

I guess as far as the transmission goes, it will likely be a matter of the deal at hand. since i can drive either. the last 10 years has been with a 5 speed manual. diesel prices here stay more constant than gasoline does. gas fluctuates by 20 cents a gallon on a regular basis. but diesel stays...
