Hey all, anyone have a heater core leak in their KJ? I've noticed a growing wet spot on drivers side floor lately. Being winter time I chalked it up to my wet boots. Well, Jeep has been garaged for a bit and everything dried out but this area. Cant tell if it smells sweet but feels oily. Any...
Done: oil change, air filter, tire rotation (all 5), re-attach front diff breather hose, state inspection/emissions (passed!)
To do: replace drivers side mirror
The KJ was my first Jeep. After 100K miles of mostly on-road service I began modding it for trail use. Over the past few years of buying parts I keep saying "that's it, no more $ in this thing, I'm saving for a Wrangler!" Well, now I'm so happy with how the rig turned out I'm all in and will...
Made the decision 4 years ago to not trade it in and buy a Wrangler when the KJ had 90K miles and instead dropped $10K+ into the Liberty over the next 4 years. Put in cheap lift then went to JBA so that was a waste. And I still need a bumper/winch! Not sure its an overall waste of money though...
Affixed KJ, JBA, Detroit Trutrac and Bilstein decals to my rear window. This increased my HP, made all jeep noises disappear, gave me 4" more lift, and will now prevent me from ever getting stuck off-road. Well in my head anyway....
Sorry to see those images. I have some bubbling in the front just above the windshield. I had a windshield replaced and the top plastic weather-stripping was not sealed correctly which caused the bubbling. Windshield was replaced again after a rock strike (correctly done this time) four years...
Replace drivers side mirror
Drivers side mirror has been rattling like crazy for 6 months. With all the "normal" jeep noises for some reason this one annoys me, probably since its closer to my ear and I can hear it over the tire noise. Did some forum searches and its cheaper and easier to...
I'll have to check that. My cruise light also comes on but not working and setting/holding speed. Its been like that for the last 5 years, just never bothered to try and fix. Thanks!
SOLVED (for now) - Could not recreate the sound in 4hi or 4 lo today. Had my shop go over front end and no issues found. So I'm chalking it up to a rock or something stuck in the brakes.
Glad I had the video to show em to prove I'm not crazy and hearing things. Headed to the local off-road park...
My Wife told me two years ago to stop spending $ on the Liberty and save for a Wrangler Rubicon. I keep telling her "But I'm almost done modding the Liberty, just need a bumper, and a winch, and on board air, and etc..."
Thanks for the input. The tension-er was replaced 15K ago. My shade tree mechanic friends thought it was maybe a rock stuck between the rotor and brake shield that came loose when I got back on the pavement. I checked drive shaft boots and they looked OK. I put it in 4-hi in a grassy area today...
So anyone think the pinion seal replacement had anything to do with this? I'll take a closer look at the shaft boots but like i said it was quiet before the seal replacement. At any rate first step is bringing it back to the shop that did the seal.
