My 9" is leaking from the passenger axle seal around the shaft. I believe they are the original axles from a 79 Bronco so it looks like they just have enough wear around the shaft to prevent the seal from sealing. It's not a bad leak but it will keep dripping gear oil and it gets on the rotor...
Just go to your local vinyl sticker/sign design shop. They would probably charge you $50-100 to measure it, print, and install it. If you find a font you like you can just email it to them or bring it on a usb stick. I tend to grab fonts from Dafont.com
If there aren't any shops local to you...
I still use the stock bottle jack and a piece of 1'x1'x2" block of wood under it to change my 265/70/17s offroad. I just jack from under the a-arm or the rear axle like Tom said. If on the street I don't need to use the wood.
Depending on tire size and lift the 16x8 with 4"bs may rub on the pinch seem, edges of the fenders at full flex in the rear, and/or fog light area of the front bumper. Not horrible but if you want 0 rubbing then don't get them.
Stops much better now with disc's in the back.
Was 95° out and welding on the blacktop was so much fun and fun fact sometimes if you touch something you just welded you can hear your skin sizzle before you feel it lol.
I started at 2 and finished at 9. Only had to run to autozone twice...
Ordered the wrong axle retainer plates so I made my own out of 1/4" instead of the 3/16" these came in.
Then cut off the old bearings and seals. Pressed new Timken bearings and seals. Installed the 3rd member with a lube locker gasket. Torqued everything down.
I just need to pick up new axle...
Got the detroit in the 9". Only took me about 18 hours working in the corner of my shed with a small led light (electricity not run to the shed).
I've never done gears before so invested in a magnetic dial indicator, inch lb dial gauge, home made spanner wrench, and rented bearing/race press...
I stayed away from lunchbox lockers because I was scared off by people saying how poorly they are on road.
That was the biggest crock of bull ever. I could put someone new in my jeep and I doubt they'd know it's there. If yours is jerking the whole jeep or making very loud bangs something is...
You can replace the whole assembly with one from Mopar. The metal is thin and bends before the bushing moves usually.
If you go with a cheap aftermarket brand rear upper control arm you will be replacing it again in a few thousand miles.
I just ended up converting mine to a true triangulated 4...
Plenty of clearance at ride height for up travel. The tires will stuff before this gets close to anything.
Right now it has a ton of antisquat so the rear lifts up on acceleration. It drives and handles so much better. Everything is firm. I used to think my rack was going but it was all slop in...
