Transfer case sensor was acting up so I decided to run the $ Wheel drive selector through the hi/lo while sitting in the driveway. Well after putting it back into 2 Wheel drive I am stuck. No matter what gear I put the Jeep into it is stuck. Put it in neutral and selector in neutral and even on a slight downhill grade it will not roll. Pulling the selector now seems to freely move, clearly not engaging.

HELP!

ok I pulled the center console out to track down the problem, followed the shifter cable to the rear of the xfer case and it is disconnected. I can't move the selector on the xfer case and wondering if the sensor might be locked and applying enough force to keep me from being able to move it?

Also there is a vacuum hose right above the xfer case that is disconnected and going nowhere but the engine. Ideas where it is supposed to be connected, what it does?

ok success, Liberty is back in the garage. Was able to get the shifter cable back on the xfer case. I assume there is supposed to be a lock washer of some sort on there to keep it from popping off like that?

Are you sure that vacuum hose isn't your breather?
