Chip, goes by "Boiler" here, makes a nifty filler to go between the rad support and the front suspension/engine skid. I've got one, as do many members here and it fits/works fantastic. Keeps the front of the engine skid from acting like a freaking shovel.
That's right, cheese boards.:badger_1:
Tim, I'm afraid that you are going to be dissapointed in all the effort that you put into that skid plate. It's going to get scratched and dirty.:icon_twisted:
Tim, I do have the OEM skid. Don't get me wrong, it's plenty strong and works just fine. Don't waste money on paint or bedlining. You'll find yourself repainting it after every offroad trip. I use some cheap a$$ed Krylon or Tremclad black. Nothing special.
s'about time Tim. The OE skid isn't the greatest but it works. I know from the scars on the skid that mine has saved my trans pan on several occasions. If you do find yourself in mud, take the time afterwards to remove the skid and wash out the muck. I've had mud packed inbetween the skid and...
When I wash the underside of my KJ, I can blast water into the "frame rail" under the front doors. When I use enough pressure, the water comes out of the center of the rear bumpstop. Would seem to me that the KJ already has a frame. Albeit with the body securely mounted. Kudos to ChryCo, no...

Hey Kitty, quit calling it a car. Seems that things start to go wrong when the Jeep gets refered to as an inferior means of transportation!! See my sig for why. Be kind...
Check my "Intermediate Shafts Suck" Album. You don't need to remove the front diff, or an LCA to remove the cover. Just have to cut the lower diff mount bracket forward attachment bolt and replace it after. Doesn't take all that long to do. Be careful when removing the diff cover. It's kinda...
It would seem rather obvious from the manner in which your KJ behaved under heavy braking that it does not have ABS.
Time to find a parking lot and practice threshold braking techniques.:icon_lol:
