changed serpentine belt and tensioner , all gates. Same belt and tensioner for 5 years plus. Some cracks but was really extended when compared to the new gates belt.
Still got a whine which i presume is the power steering pump churning the cold atf where the PS hose finally has no leaks...
Changed the oil
Put in driveshaft i had balanced, no vibes and jeep is a pleasure to drive on highway again for first time in 2 years.
replaced failed powersteering hose by cutting off the metal fittings of existing hose and putting in 4 foot 5000 psi custom hydraulic hose with compression...
There are no hubs to engauge or even turn off.
If it feels like its binding ensure your actually in 2WD. the Transfer case indicator light sometimes goes out.
After that crawl underneath and check rubber boot on transfercase side of front driveshaft. If cracked replace.
Check back if...
the speed sensor also kills your cruise control if defective. I'd order one to have the shelf.
125 is a pretty good price on the Timkens. The napa replacement is ~400 plus in town.
I pinched a wire when i put the shock back in after pulling the CV axle chasing a rumble I have now...
you can get the timken replacements from rock auto for ~150 bucks with the sensor. Easy swap considering the replacement sensors that may or maynot come out are already mounted inside that unit.
E14 Torx and 35/36 mm axle socket needed.
Pulled my old leaking line the other day and getting ready to install the new hose i had made.
The old fitting at the rack did not have an o ring.
Is there one supposed to be installed? It did have one at the pump side but nothing down bottom.
Last change was at the dealer under...
Try and fit one without a tire. Hub size on liberty is 71.5 and pretty sure the patriot is 67.1
bolt pattern back spacing etc might be fine but wont' flush mount on the hub.
the dual group 34/78 battery are usually the same cost and have extra terminals if you want to wire directly to the side posts instead of the clamp on the top.
took the bulk slack out of it and hitched it to part of the metal frame then ran it out the tow hook and Zap strapped it to the side.
Now if you forget to unplug you just need to replace a 4 dollar end.
Took HP line off power steering, replaced with spare from a dodge dakota. Old line is getting sacrificed with new hose from hydraulic shop. Will replace when i get time this week or so.
Its time for a new rear diff, or junk yard as indicated by toe being off in the same direction on both sides. 06 - 07 will fit as you need the one without the tone ring on the carrier and with all the other ESP stuff.
Liberty stock 16 inch rims are 7 inches wide 5 x 4.5" or 5 x 114.3mm. Hub size 71.5 mm, 5.5inches of backspacing or offset of ~41 - 42 mm
The factory 17s have slightly differnt backspacing / offset and varry by year but all fit stock no issues.
The jeeps wheels will fit a ford fusion but...
Idle it and change your oil in the spring. Even with my block heater when it hits below -20c my jeep is not happy if i just take off. Its already dealing with frozen ATF fluid and square tires and requires more revs to get moving.
The more obvious reason is without idling to warm up the...
If your going to use soft 8's and your buying new get 7 inches wide and 4 inch BS.
The only reason moabs are choosen over soft 8's is looks or the desire to not use steel rims or you don't like soft 8's. The 8 inch wide wheel isn't as desireable for the widths a KJ will run. ie 245 - 265.
i ran it last oil change after reading enough bob is oil guy forums. Popular opinion after many have spent money on oil analysis is that either this or mobil 1 seems to be the best options.
Since i don't do extended oil changes; as long as the pour point is low enough for the cold i see 6...
