Mine too. I didn't really worry about it - just gave the bottom of the arms a quick shot of Rustoleum red to limit corrosion. And the pockets looked like they were formed to fit the JBA arms
Only those of us with OCD Jeep Syndrome notice those kinds of things :happy175:

I'm not against HF for a lot of things but for that particular set of bolts I didn't want anything to muck up the head of the bolt. If it gets rounded off then you're in deep dung - don't want the socket distorting at all.
I'd suggest a high quality e-Torx socket for that job (it's an E-14) to...
On initial startup the mechanical fan will be fully engaged until the fluid in the clutch warms up slightly, then the fan will freewheel or spin very slowly. If you're stopped in traffic or at a light on a warm day you may also hear the fan 'roar' when you accelerate - and that's because there's...
That's the way you did it on my 4.10 rear end and I seemed to have gotten a few miles out of that swap... :happy175::happy175::happy175:
The beauty of the KJ is it's so simple to work on - doesn't require super expensive tools to get things where you want them.

I agree with HJ - that's pretty far back to be oil and without touching it to see it's consistency it makes it hard to say if it's engine oil or transfer case ATF+4.
It's probably not a rear main seal as those don't typically go bad on these engines but it could be the passenger valve cover...
SOLD
A local family - all of whom own Jeeps - bought my KJ for their son who is a senior in High School. They surprised him with the gift by parking the KJ in his spot at school during the day and watched from a distance as he came out of class. Pretty cool.
Hated to see it drive down the...
Hi gang.
Well, the old saying that life happens is certainly appropriate here. We are moving a parent into our house for health reasons and that means a significant remodel to make our first floor bathroom handicap-accessible. If you've ever done a project like this you know it takes a few...
I saw a thread on another forum about Photobucket changing their policies and holding users hostage for something like $100 annually for links to work with forums. I logged onto PB and could barely get around my pics thanks to all the pop-ups and ads - horrible.
Then I headed here and checked...
Unless you have a different design Down Under, the ARB bull bar's recover points are plenty beefy. I have D-ring shackles on mine and have used them for recovery several times.
Do you have pics of yours for comparison?
Bob
No, you won't lose any fluid from the diff. The correct fluid level is just below the opening for the axle so you should be able to just pop out the old axle and tap in the new one.

Sway control is close to mandatory with that length trailer - in fact, a weight distribution hitch with the sway control bars will bring the stability back.
With the the weight of the trailer your front wheels may not have the appropriate weight on them leading to sway and instability. A WD...
No, the tensioners should be tight - but not stiff. The tensioner will be filled with oil on startup to keep it firm against the guides.
The V-clamps connecting the cats to the exhaust manifolds are definitely a pain. Once you get those disconnected and the tranny unbolted the engine should...
Glad it worked out well - I like having factory as long as it's as effective as aftermarket.
AdamRoby, the 7-pin power contains a power lead that also provides power to the trailer, and not just for running lights and turn signals. It powers accessories in the trailer such as a battery charger...
Not a bad idea - I can't picture what could be used as a leverage point on the KJ. Thankfully I was able to use the BFH to remove mine on the KJ and recently I replaced the passenger side on my XK. It has an aluminum knuckle and I was worried about what HJ said above - the two metals fusing...
You SURE it has 13 bolts...?
Your year KJ has the 42RLE transmission - which has 15 bolts in the pan - for the gas engines. If you have a CRD diesel you'll have the 45RFE which has 13 bolts. There are no other automatic transmission models offered on the KJ besides those two.
FYI: 2002 and...
