    Rear Axle recommendations

Yup, I'm going to be replacing the rotors and pads currently installed on the truck when I swap the axle, so the lower control arms, shocks, upper control arm, calipers, and rotors were already scheduled for recycle. I already replaced upper and lower control arms on the current axle and haven't...

    Rear Axle recommendations

So I was able to get a rear 4.10 axle for my Liberty. I’ve still got to tear it down, clean it up, remove all the garbage they shipped with it (like a shock still attached that’s bent at like a 30 degree angle toward the center of the axle), clean up some surface rust, and paint and primer it...

    Sheeps bridge

That’s where I lost the muffler and tailpipe to my Explorer before I got my Liberty. Wonderful drive and beautiful country out there.

    JBA Y-Link Extension

So I’ve got the mount on the axle, got the a arm on the body side bolted on, but I can’t get the heim joint and mount together. My axle either tilts way too far forward or not at all, and so the heim joint is either over the top of the mount or about 4 inches away. Any suggestions for getting...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Good to know. It was a pain to remove the factory ball joint mount because of that, so I’ll leave it off and see how it feels.

What did you do to your jeep today?

I got new bolts to hold the custom mount for the IRO a arm to the rear diff. I could have phrased that better. As for the counterweight, since you’ve had it removed forever, what does it do? Is it just an unnecessary part?

What did you do to your jeep today?

Finally got bolts for the upper arm, bolts for the axle mount, and bolts for the counterweight. Tomorrow I can finally reassemble the back end and take it out for a spin. Very much looking forward to the upgraded and functional rear end again!

What did you do to your jeep today?

I haven’t been able to continue the work on my jeep replacing the rear UCA, because the new bolts still have not arrived. I literally paid almost 10 times the price of the bolts in shipping, and they didn’t get delivered Wednesday when they should have been here. I just got an email from UPS and...

    Bolt markings

I have not picked up bolts yet. Got referred to Ace Hardware here, and they only have up to 80mm bolts, apparently Copper State doesn’t sell single bolts, only in bulk of 25 or more, and Grainger closes before I leave work. I also missed a local bolt shop here by 15 minutes after work today, so...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I’m approaching 2 years in about a month now, and I’ve learned a LOT during the past two years. Reading up on your experience was one of my deciding factors in choosing a Liberty.

    Bolt markings

I have not. I can try calling one tomorrow after work to see what they say. Looks like Copper State Bolt and Nut is on my way home from work. That is perfect.

What did you do to your jeep today?

I really like my double din head unit with Apple Car Play. I’ve sorely missed it since I’ve been driving my wife’s civic for the past couple months.

    Bolt markings

Yeah, it’s the rear. It’s a discontinued mopar part, so I just want to make sure I can find a comparable bolt, and wasn’t sure what the rating was. I got the size, just need the grade to be able to find almost comparable bolts. Closest size I can find is m12x1.75x120mm

    Bolt markings

I’m not familiar with this bolt marking: I assume is a 10.9 grade bolt, but I figured I’d check here first. Going to get new bolts for the upper arm.

What did you do to your jeep today?

I was able to get it out. One of the body side bolts of the upper arm was just spinning. Now to finish the rest of the removal

    Lower control arm replacement

So I got the bolt out. The sleeve in the bushing was my problem after all, which is much better than what I thought was happening. The sleeve damaged the threads on the bolt, which is why it got stuck and was just spinning. Now to get new bolts so I can get the new control arm in.

Ground Clearance: How Much is Enough?

Tom seems to have great luck finding them, the rest of us, not so much

    Lower control arm replacement

That’s good to know then. It looks like it’s out a little over an inch.

Ground Clearance: How Much is Enough?

Where about in Arizona are you? I’m in Phoenix and I love to go up to the Rim area most often.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Replaced my rear lower control arms today. Tried replacing the upper with the Iron Rock Off-road upper and couldn’t get the old one out, so it looks like I get to have a LOT more fun tomorrow tearing the Jeep apart to figure out how to fix what went wrong.
