02 Liberty rear window won't latch

Tried to check the other threads, it seems like my problem is a bit unique from the other threads- my latch mechanism moves easily, not rusty or stuck, but the window won't stay shut, it won't stay closed. I saw on another thread there is a wire issue, would it make it stick open?

Mine did that in the rain, I took the plastic door liner off and unplugged the door handle switch, it still opens on the key, just remember to pop it with the key or you risk breaking it if you pull the gate open.

That makes sense , I live in a rain forest jungle LOL. I also have some rust up by the third light that may be leaking into that area? I can't feel any dampness there, but could be.
