I put an engine out of an 05 in my 02, I had to change the tone ring on the crank. Everything else is the same I’m pretty sure from what I researched.

Cause the 05 and ups are the same engine somewhat except usually the oil pan. So wouldn’t the camshaft fit in a 04 if I’m trying to upgrade it? Since it’s not a electronic part

It would be so easy to go look up each year/ camshaft and see if they are the same parts number
But Im a bit too busy this morning

So for years I've seen where the 2005+ 3.7's were rated at 215hp vs 210hp for the 02-04's; don't you know I can't find a damn thing that spells that out lol. What I did find:

So I looked at 04 then 05 and indeed both cam part numbers are different between those two years. They also match their adjoining years (03 & 06, I didn't feel like pulling them all up).
So in summary, would there TECHNICALLY be some kind of improvement swapping to the newer cams? Eh not really because it took those AND more compression AND revised tuning to make an improvement you wouldn't even feel ona **** dyno lol. Sorry OP. Have fun with your exploding nitrous'd powertech!

Edit: really? But-t is a bad word here?? How can anyone be the but-t of a joke?

Yes cams by themselves are not going to produce a ton more power or help in throwing nitrous into it
But then OP has been asking over on Facebook and you know the answers you get there , LOL

I joined one group ( KJ related ) and was there for a week
Young lady asked what the best lift was
I spelled it out for her
then come the Facebook master of all lift questions stating his spacer lift was the best and would last the longest, give the best ride etc
Posted why that is not true espicially when he used stock springs and shocks with over 200,000 miles on them
Went on for a couple fo days and was tired of being called an idiot, did not know what I was talking about etc and deleted the group.
Contacted the Administrator, and he said that the guy with the spacer lift was totally right

For real entertainment, check out the VW clubs on Facebook. Info was so bad there it’s one of the reasons I quit social media all together.

One of my “favorites” I saw on there:

“You can easily mate a hemi to a stock transaxle. No need to modify the suspension.”
