I have a 2004 Liberty 3.7 that has been blowing the radiator petcock completely out. New water pump and just did a head gasket job. Can anyone give me some insight on why it's happening? TIA

Welcome. Are the threads stripped inside or on the petcock side?
Did you bleed air out from hex screw at top rad hose?
Have you replaced the thermostat with a New Mopar one?
On the coolant reservoir cap, how many psi is stated on cap?

Stant 16# cap, new thermostat, bled the air. It's the push and turn plastic petcock. I'm at a loss.

I had a petcock blow out of my radiator and i fixed it by replacing the radiator. All it takes is someone to cross thread the petcock then it will never go back in properly. I currently run a all aluminum radiator with a metal petcock now.

It has the plastic push and twist petcock it feels tight and has no play in it at all.

HELP!
Make: 2002 Jeep Liberty Ltd, immaculate condition body and interior. Low kms only 92,000kms / 57,166miles, not bad for a 20 year old Jeep. Never off road.

Last week on Thursday 27th January, 2022, walked out to the garage and my beautiful Jeep Liberty is leaking coolent all over the garage floor after been sitting for 4 days. Radiator last installed in the Jeep 8 months ago.

Took it to my mechanic and as I had feared it was the radiator, the fins on the radiator are blown out.
Shoot, it's a Mishimoto radiator!!! WTH!!!
I thought Mishimoto radiators were good radiators.

Can anyone HELP? Why does my 2002 Jeep Liberty keep blowing out radiators?
A Million Thanks in advance!!!

What is the Mishimoto radiator warranty?
The Mopar replacement Radiator is the best long lasting solution.
That being said, I wonder today if the Mopar rad for your 2002 is still available??
Give a call to a dealer giving them your VIN #, and see if one may be still available for your 2002 KJ.
Otherwise it may be best to find an aluminum solution
Use Mopar HOAT 0r Zerex G-05 coolant only in your Jeep.

Lifetime warrantys LOL
Buddy of mine bought a cheaper radiator with a life time
After he replaced several in a less than a year and a half he finally bought a MOPAR and never had any more issues
He was working on the road then , working in one location for 2-3 weeks then moving to another
Lots of lost antifreeze, working in the rain, snow , lots of cussing his choice

Thanks to all for your replies:

I had to buy an OEM, because at my local store all they had were really cheap Chinese made aluminum "Spectre" radiators.
So, I bought a Mishimoto.
Thought they were really good radiators since they were prepared to put a lifetime warranty on their products.
At that time Mopar didn't have any 2002 Jeep Liberty radiators in stock, and was not going to splurge out $1,000 to buy one on Ebay.
$1,000 just for a radiator, that was ridiculous.
Now, on reflection, I should have bought the Mopar, or waited, but Mopar didn't know when they would be getting more in.
Will update you all when I talk to Mishimoto about RMA'ing this 8 month old, crappy blown out rad to them.
Will let you all know what they do, and if they DO honor their warranty.

(*Never comforted, *Never disturbed, *Never comfortable)

Ive never seen a mopar rad be $1,000

I like that color. Pretty sure that was only a 2002 color, maybe also 2003.

Pretty sure you have come to the wrong conclusion on the meaning of my post. There is a difference in saying someone is spreading BS and simply saying that Ive never seen a Mopar rad for $1,000....

@JeepJeepster

Hmmmmm, I had a 50/50 chance on being right, or I had a 50/50 chance on being wrong.
If I was wrong, I APOLOGIZE!

But, why would you write something that is neither constructive or helpful, bit of a waste of time really.
