I like that I don't have to spend 3 grand on upgrades to have the motor work properly and not self destruct. I wouldn't mind getting 30 mpg though the_finger.gif

haha discuss minions. I don't know much about the CRDs, except they are able to sound pretty cool. But my vote still goes to 3.7

The only thing I don't like about the CRD is the short-long CV thing... The have better fuel economy, better auto transmission (5-45RFE) and an insane amount of torque at low RPM... I think the 2.8L CRD with VG Turbo it's a badass...

All that being said, I still prefer my V6 gasser... Diesel vehicles have inspection every 4 months here... that it's ridiculous!

Cheers! :)

You only have to spend 4k when you hit 100k miles for another one of those minivan engines, while ours can go 300k easy

I don't keep vehicles that long; so your point is moot :D

You folk overseas have a different CRD right? The 2.5 CRD. Or was that only the early years before the 2.8? Either way I have heard yours aren't fawked with like the US ones due to emissions standards and other bureaucratic nonsense. If the damn thing worked like it should without a ton of work needed, and a maintenance schedule that is mind boggling, I would love a diesel. All that extra torque would make my shorts tight!

There are about 12 million threads on CEL lights on your gasser so..what are you implying.

TBJ, I know where you live. It's only a 6 hour flight.....Kick.gif

Diesels are far superior to gassers and the USA would do itself a favor if it would embrace it like Europe has.

But no, you would rather kill us all by global warming because you don't give a rats patooty what happens to the rest of us as long as it is not happening in the US of A. Great. Thanks.

haha this is true.. I just saw this post right when you were advocating CRDs felt it necessary to link..

I am not sure if this is friendly banter or seriousness. I don't care either way as it brings the funny.

Ladies and gentlemen... I've traveled over half our state to be here tonight. I couldn't get away sooner because my new well was coming in at Coyote Hills and I had to see about it. That well is now flowing at two thousand barrels and it's paying me an income of five thousand dollars a week. I have two others drilling and I have sixteen producing at Antelope. So, ladies and gentlemen... if I say I'm an oil man you will agree.

I've never experianced the CRD, so I can't comment on it, I do however run the 3.7 with no fuss.. I also drive the shit out of it, and it doesnt *****.

even tho it gets 10 miles to the gallon, eats a quart of oil faster than I can eat a cheeseburger, and sometimes belches smoke out the exhaust.. I grin every time I turn the key, the sound of the 3-4 cranks it takes to fire followed by the cylinders coming to life.. love it.

now if only it was lifted with some sort of M/T ..

edited: re-phrasing.

Don't need or want to know about the CRD. Its engine is made in Italy alongside garbage heaps from Fix It Again Tony and Lancia.
