The Liberty runs the AC when any climate function is being used - including the heater - even when the AC button isn't lit up. Nearly all vehicles - including the Liberty - run the AC pump (if equipped) when the defroster is in use.

well that confirms a long running suspicion I've had about this damn thing; that the A/C compressor is being engaged at times I'm not used to. I kept meaning to pop the hood and watch to see if I was right, but now I don't have to. For that you get something you should prize and cherish forever... a 'like' from me. :D

Not sure how to respond to that....

Prof saw an open door and ran right through it

Knowing him we'll get an update on what caused the A/C problems. Your request is duly noted and will be followed up on.

It's all good :waytogo:

Jeep was dropped off last night at Carmax for warranty repair. They were supposed to start on it at 8am (six hours ago) but still no word. Of course, with my perfect timing I put my Jeep in the shop while we are expecting a blizzard. My replacement? A dinky little 18 year old Mazda. :emotions34:

PS: I cannot say enough good things about Uber. I pulled up at the service department at 11pm last night and put in my request for a ride. The guy was there before I could finish putting my name and address on the key drop-off envelope.

They finally called back. Compressor is shot. I knew I picked a bad day to stop taking hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Covered under warranty, thank goodness.

Bad news is, they won't have the part for a few days. I am picking it up tonight and will bring it back in next week to let them finish it off. In the meantime, it might be time for a little fun in the snow Friday night. :mexsmoke:

I go to pick it up at midnight tonight. There is 1/4" of snow on the ground so Uber charges their Surge rate. $ I get there and my Jeep is not in the parking lot. $$ I spot a guy leaving the lot and ask him if anyone is around. $$$ Apparently there is a car prep crew that works overnight getting the newly delivered cars ready. $$$$ I find their manager, who after fifteen minutes finds my Jeep - still sitting in the locked service bay. $$$$$ He gets the key, I get my Jeep. $$$$$$ The Uber guy gets rich because I had to pay him to wait, just in case they couldn't come up with it. $$$$$$$

I knew I picked a bad day to stop eating Sterno...

So after the fiasco at midnight last night, Boy Genius repairman calls me today and says the part showed up this morning and do I want to bring it back in?

Yeah, slick, like I trust you now. I'm going to wait until next week once they get the roads cleared. (Assuming the dimwits who run things around here manage to get that accomplished by then.)

This thread is beginning to look like a Keystone Cops script - sorry for the hassles, Prof

Dropped it off last night so they could put the compressor in. Now they're telling me the low pressure switch is bad. Another day...

At least my warranty covers it.
