My hitch is wired with a 4 pin flat connector. Never really noticed what happens when I put it in reverse if light in trailer does something. I do not think there is a reverse wire off of 4 pin flat connector.
So if I want to mount a reverse light off of the hitch/trailer (activated when in reverse only), how many additional watts is safe for BCM and should I just grab positive power from back of tail light connector at reverse bulb or is there a better location to tie into?
Thanks for any info here.

There is no reverse lights on your trailer just using the 4 flat. You will either have to run a separate/extra 2 wire plug and then wire up separate reverse lights on trailer or you can switch over to a 6 round or even 7flat RV plug so to have extra pins in connectors. I have reverse lights built into my camper and my Tahoe had a backup wire already provided in trailer ready wire harness under truck so I just hooked up and they worked. Since you do not have the extra wire provided, I think you could tap onto the Libby back up ligts and run one to trailer without noticeable effects, I have added extra ones on other trucks under bumper and just spliced onto vehicle lights, no problems. If you are worried about it, you can also run and extra fused hot wire to the back, then add a relay to feed the trailer backup light using the Libby backups as the switch. I don't know much about the Libby BCM so it maybe wise to use the relay and go that route. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can help you on that one.

Our ZJ is already wired for a reverse but idk if the liberty is since mine didnt come from the factory with a tow pack. The round 7 pin I have on there now has an accessory wire which I can add anything to that I want. Also has a positive wire for charging batteries on trailers but I didnt hook that up. Dont tow enough to need to do that. Anyway, you can get round 7 pin connectors and housings to mount it on your hitch and wire whatever you want to it. You could tap into the wire for the reverse lights on the jeep and put a relay in.

Or go find that thread on lost.. :)

I wired up a set of LED lights for boats so they are very water proof. They are not wired up to the reverse lights but to a switch on the dash. They are nice, you can turn them on whenever you like and it is nice for hooking up a trailer at night or just needing some extra light. Plus I placed a switch on the rear so there is no need to walk to the front to turn them on. If you would like to see some pictures send me a message.

I use a 16' floater trailer to haul my YJ about and I have a pair of driving lamps mounted on the front of the deck for nighttime loading. Right now the driving lamps are wired directly to the ten pin wiring harness and act as extra backup lights and they work great.

I believe all the trailer wiring is run off of an extra relay circuit not directly off of the BCM. At least it is with the Chrysler wiring harness. You should be able to confirm this with the Liberty's schematics.

One of my next projects is to add a relay/switch to power the extra lamps anytime from a trailer mounter battery.
