Couple of questions...

I have the stock standard head unit. I'd like to put my sub in the vehicle. I know there's a Mopar sub that can be bought aftermarket. Does this mean the stock headunit has some type of pre-out to feed the Mopar sub, meaning I could get RCA cables and run them to my aftermarket amp? Or, would I need a line level converter and tap into the rear speakers?

Also, I have a whopping 470 miles on it right now. Has anyone had a warranty issue due to a subwoofer/amp installation? I just don't want any problems if an alternator or something dies. FYI, this will be a 10" Kappa Perfect and I am not sure what amp yet (old one died) - somewhere around 300 watts RMS is what I want.

Thanks!!

All I can tell you is that I know that the factory radio does NOT have RCA preouts so I guess a converter is in order. I'm not real sure how the mopar sub connects, but there are others on here who have them and could tell you more about that.

Yeah, I forgot that some amps have those speaker level inputs on them...that would be another easy way to go.

Thanks guys...yeah, I think that's what I'll end up doing. The speaker level inputs are nice. I had an amp with them, but I was overdriving it and finally killed it.

Man you might as well put in an after market head unit. The stock speakers won't hold up much to the volume your two tens will make at 300 rms. I have two tens in my libby and replaced the speakers today simply because the subs drowned them out. Without a new head unit, I would'nt have enough power to run the speakers at a good level. I love my new setup now, maybe a total of six hours labor, and a little over seven hundred bucks spent.

Sony Head Unit w/ Aux input
4 Kicker KS60s
Sony 550 Xplod powering two lighting audio tens.

One thing I love about my headunit(and Im sure all aftermarket ones have it) is, I can take all the bass off my speakers and put it on the sub. I can control what Hz I want to put on the speakers and the sub.. Makes it sound alot better and you can turn it up alot louder without hurting the speaker/getting distortion.

Blake, so your front speakers have no bass on them? I just cannot stand that thin full of treble sound coming from the speakers, it itches my ears. PSS PSS. :)

mine is like that too, most of the bass is coming out of the basslink. That way, you can crank the crap out of it and you don't have to worry about your door speakers distorting.

Yup, all highs coming out of the speakers. When that sub is booming away you cannot tell where the bass is coming from.. :D

That's cool. I don't like subs (I try to make myself believe that, so that I don't spend more money on the jeep)

I've tried that several times with no success....you think maybe they make a pill we can take for it??
