alternator amp ?

2007 Jeep Liberty needs new alternator, called auto part store and they asked me what amp is it 140 or 160 ? I looked at the alternator but did not see anything ??

Nothing wrong with installing a larger Alternator if you intend running Fridges, spotlights etc.

But the cable that is bolted to the large Lug of the alternator is a Fusable Link cable ie. it has a built in fuse that will blow if you draw too much current.....or short it to ground.. These Fusable Links have diffferent colors for different amperage so you could look in the wiring diagrams to see what color wire you have and its current rating!

As tommudd stated it depends on the model!

Depends on what model Liberty you have
For instance Renegades had 160
Sports 140 etc
But 136a is what that specific part number comes back to. For a 2007 3.7, the other p/n is 56029914AD (now AE) which is the 160a:
