So did you read the TSB yourself? Have you actually asked all three dealers if they did the TSB? The invoice for the the head gaskets and sending the head for inspection does not mean they did the TSB .... Basically the TSB gets you to do a running test with the scanner which determines if the TSB is applicable. If it doesn't pass then the head /heads need valve work regardless of condition. So if they pulled the heads because it failed the running test and sent them for just an inspection then the TSB was not done.

i agree you need the tsb done, and now that three dealers are involved it gets complex. when i have had tsb's done in the past, the tsb # is listed on the invoice and all parts required by the tsb are listed by # as well. in my past experience their was no doubt about what work i had done (fyi). also i had to bring my past tsb to the dealers attention. their are alot of tsb's out their and dealers do not automaticly know about them all! mike

That's not alot of info and has none of the misfire info and is useless.

If the misfire is bad enough driving with it can do engine damage, motor mount damage, and cat damage.

We had been driving the vehicle for 45 minutes, then stopped to get gas. As soon as I put it in drive and hit the gas, the CEL came on.

I've read that TSB. I have a subscription to alldatadiy.com for this vehicle.

I would assume that with all the trouble this Jeep has given us, and as many times as it's been to a Jeep dealership, the TSB has been done. Or so one would think.

Since none of the Jeep dealers this vehicle has been taken to will talk to me, because I'm not the customer, I emailed the TSB to the dealer we bought it from. I asked them if they knew if the TSB had be performed on my Jeep or not. If not, then hopefully the dumba$$es will follow up on the TSB.

BTW, I messed around with my OBDII scanner and was able to download the misfire information. I'm kind of new to OBDII scanners so I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at. Anyway. Here it is.

If I'm interpreting this right, other cylinders have misfired too. They just haven't misfired enough to throw a code. Also, according the TSB, #3 cylinder is the most likely to misfire followed by others on that same side.

Still kinda useless without how many cycles it is counting and what RPM the test is takin at.Missing alot of other important info, let me guess a Actron scanner was used?

Yeah, it's an Actron.

It's pretty hard to know what all the abbreviations mean since I've never really used an OBDII scanner. The owners manual is pretty vague. It basically tells you how to hook the scanner up to the vehicle and how to hook it up to a PC.

I'm trying to figure it out.

I'm kinda guessing that it will be of limited use since it's not a manufacture specific tool like the DRBIII. It was affordable though.

Mine is a Innova 3100 and I am going through the same learning curve with it. I am having trouble reading (understanding) what you posted. We were trying to get Brian's misfire codes diagnosed and went as far as we could with it swapping coil pak's and plugs, etc. Now his is running fine so maybe it was bad gas ?? I don't know. It will have to go to a professional with more knowledge and real professional scanning/reading equipment if it acts up again.

I have been doing research on misfires and have been watching your thread. That's why I posted the FSM info earlier in this thread. Seems like I have a whole bunch of notes now and no answer.

Those scanners that cost less then $500 are mostly useless besides clearing codes. They will not support enough items to do any type of diagnoses. To get the info needed and ability to properly diagnose a vehicle(in most cases) a mush more advanced scanner is needed like the SnapOn Ethos or OTC Gynesis scanners that when fully outfitted can run $4000+.Though nothing beats the OEM scanners though.

Update

Last night I called the Chevy dealer we bought our Jeep from to see if they had heard anything from the repairing facility; Saratoga Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and they had not.

I explained the TSB to the salesman we bought it from and told him that I had emailed it to him.

He said he would print it out and fax it down to the repairing facility. He also said he was going to call them to find out what was going on with the vehicle and then he would get back to me.

Later on last night he calls me back and tells me that the repairing facility is going to perform the TSB, replacing the intake valves and a few other realated items.

OMG!!! I couldn't believe it. This thing has been in multiple times for the same problem and not one idiot checked for a TSB or knew anything about it? It's even been to two different Jeep dealerships because one couldn't figure it out.

I'm just hoping they do the TSB and we're done with it!!!

Will Jeep pay for the repair cost even though the vehicle is out of manufacture's warranty?

When all this started, the vehicle WAS under manufacture's warranty.

It *should* be covered under warranty due to the original cause of the issue (I knew it wasn't the BCM) started BEFORE the warranty ended *AND* it was not fixed originally. If that Jeep dealer is worth anything, they'd get that covered for you. Something similar happened to my mom, with an oil leak and it was covered even after her 7/70 expired.

Just got our Jeep back from the dealer in Saratoga. The invoice shows new intake valves, retainers, timing chain, and related parts. Total cost was $2123 and some change.

It definitely sounds like the TSB HAS been done this time.

Hopefully this issue has been put to rest.

I've been having a similar problem with my 07. It's been intermittent, with the first problems starting at only 7,000 miles. Now it is happening almost ever day. I've been watching this thread with interest to see how you get it resolved. I may have to have the TSB done. Did that total include labor?

It was all covered under our aftermarket warranty. It hasn't even been a week yet, so I'm not calling it fixed yet.

For those of you who where following this thread. I think we finally got to the bottom of the issue.

The TSB was performed and we haven't had an issue since, knock on wood.

We've made several trips out of town and it's been running great!
