Can't decide if efficient or stupid...

should I opt out and buy the K&N cold air intake (270.00 online), or buy a 3" adjustable intake pipe (22.95 online) and mount a K&N cone filter ($50.00) on the end? One is made for the KJ the other is not. I drive a 2007.

Looking for the best price really with the best product.

Neither...waste of money. Performance increase will be minimal if any, and you're just going to make yourself more susceptible to water getting into the intake.
If you're going to do any kind of air intake mod, do a snorkel induction ram...but you really probably don't even need that.

^^Agree.

The OEM intake is more of a true CAI since it forces colder air from outside the jeep into the intake unlike the K&N which ***** hot air from inside the hot engine bay.

Yep I'd avoid. If you are unlifted save your $$ and put it into your suspension...

honestly, there's not a lot of good engine performance mods out there that I know of. They sell a lot of "chips" to increase HP, exhaust systems, intakes like you mentions...but none of them do much, especially for the money they charge.

re-gearing to 4:10's would probably be the best bang for your buck as far as performance goes. Generally along with that comes a lift and at least a 245-75 tire size.

new plugs, clean air filter. keep oil changed regularly. Use injector cleaner every once in a while. That's about it unless you want to unload your wallet for very minimal gains.

K&N intakes on a KJ are stupid. Save your money and spend a fraction of it to keep your engine well maintained for the long haul. You won't regret it.
