Loose backing plate?
Grab the backing plate(without p brake on)try to rotate it forward and back and/or in and out.
If it is loose at all it will rattle like you are dragging a tin pie plate.

A tin sound, check the long heat shield that's above the exhaust and make sure it's not drooping and hitting the pipe. That happens more often here in the rust-belt states where it rusts and falls off the mounting bolts, but it's still worth a look.

did notice some vibration while decelerating mainly in the steering wheel, and a slight ticking sound when i could actually have something close enough to hear it while driving

No, just slide under the rear and grab the backing plate around the outside and try to move it.
With the p brake released.Handle all the down.

so driver side has no movement what so ever, passenger side has just a slight back and forth, but nothing extreme

that is absolutely insane... but I can assure you, there is nothing stuck on, wrapped around, or caught in my rear drive shaft... we just had it off yesterday to replace the stock U-Joints with ones that can be greased during normal maintenance

Check for a loose brakelight housing. The plastic grommets that hold the housing are bad for wearing out. This makes the brakelight rock in the holes making a knocking sound.

Make sure there aren't any rocks in that backing plate sounds stupid I know. Also maybe I didn't see it but when is the sound present? When braking? Or all the time?

I ended up taking this to the dealership to get them to check the vehicle out(figured at the very least they would identify everything) turns out one of my rear control arms is split in half, which is causing the noise... there is a recall out for them in the states that have snow... so I'm trying to get them to repair it under the recall since the jeep spent the first 6 years of its life in Colorado....

It's not "snow" conditions that it's covered under: This recall applies to certain vehicles sold in, or currently registered in, states where road salt is commonly used to de-ice the roads...

If they used salt where you were in Colorado, then you may have a fighting chance.

I'll raise hell til I get my way... it'll be easier to just fix the damn thing under recall then to have me complain about it all day

I'm quite sure they use road salt in Colorado usually about three months longer than what most other states do out of the year.

so it was the upper rear control arm, would have never thought to look there (stupid me) but the ball joint had broken and it was no longer attached to the rear diff... 150 dollar part(aftermarket) and 200 in labor at the dealership, pretty sure i could have done it myself, but i figured what the hell... apparently this isn't covered under the recall, you know, ball joints fail all the time
