For those very few of you who, like me, have the NV3550 and 3.7L gas engine...

What kind of life can I expect from my factory clutch? I just turned 90,000 miles and I'm curious. Even if it went tomorrow I still wouldn't trade it for any Chrysler automatic ever manufactured. The 5 speed is the reason I bought my KJ...

Anyway if anyone has any FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks guys! Rock on.

Depends on how its been used. If youve towed alot or had it offroad alot then it wont last near as long. Much stop and go traffic?

If its all hw then it should last along time.

i've heard 30,000 miles and i have heard people getting 200,000 plus. it is a wear item so your driving style has everything to do with it!

yes driving style for sure, I bought a Ford Pickup new back in the late 70s sold it with 175,000 on and the original clutch, also bought a used CJ that I knew the guy rode the clutch on and had to replace it at 33,000, I knew it was going to need it so fiqured that into the price. I grew up on a farm driving tractors and 2 1/2 ton trucks so was taught early on how to use a clutch correctly and when to upshift and downshift and not even use the clutch

I wish we had a manual ****** in something. I could probably rebuild a manual ****** but Ive not had enough practice to be really good at it. :(

Ditto what Tommud had said, I tow with mine and alot of stop and go w/50k on the odometer, I've always have problems with auto trannys but never with any of my manuals.

My local dealer had many KJ's but only 2 had the 5 speed,I was lucky to get a black one..

Clutch life in anything depends on the driver. I'm glad I found a 5 speed, I was ready to settle for an auto but I'm much happier with a 5 speed. Everything I've ever owned has been manual
