Has anyone successfully eliminated this issue? It's only the second time this code has come up and the check engine light goes off. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My Jeep documentation does not have this code either.
If you Google "OBDII code P1140" you get a whole bunch of hits...probably your MAP sensor I think.:freak3:

P1140 means the flow control valve (intake throttle) is acting up. It is used to control EGR flow. Either the gears are stripped or the motor is going out. A new valve or a GDE tune will fix the problem.

Let's be a little more specific here. If the intake valve has failed mechanically -

A new valve will fix the mechanical problem and make the CEL/code go away.

A GDE tune will simply tell the ECM to turn off the intake valve and EGR, and make the CEL/code go away. The intake valve will still be fubar.
