Does anyone know how extensive the RB1's coverage of Canada is? I'm looking to ditch my RB4 in favor of this unit, but it seems it may not really have any more coverage.

Cheers

It uses the same disc as the REC navigation unit of the Patriot, Charger, Magnum, 300C, Grand Cherokee...you name it. Both are Alpine units and use the NAVTEQ disc, currently version AE, with AF due out January 08. That should help find some more sources on the map coverage, but having never used it in Canada...couldn't say. I guess I could walk outside to the Charger and see what my Canadian coverage is like, but I just got home and got out of it...I don't think I will be going back out there tonight. Either way, if you buy one now, you're just going to need that new disc in January and the coverage will be greatly expanded for sure. NAVTEQ put out 2 releases last year in close succession and pissed a lot of people off making us pay $250 a pop so close together if we wanted the most recent disc. This came after a release just shortly before in 05. With so far between the October 06 and January 08 updates, I expect a lot of new maps and a nice firmware upgrade to be on it.

The RB4 only covers some major cities in Canada, and I was hoping that the RB1 would have coverage at least upto the Northwest Territories. Anyone help?

Cheers
