Does that include KY jelly??? :Hump:

Most Diehards are built by "Johnson Controls". Same folks who build Interstate, Duralast, AC Delco, and probably 20 other brands[also the (n)Ever Start at WalMart]. The Platinum batteries are built by EnerSys, who also build their own Odyssey batteries.

While all these contract batteries aren't built to the same specifications, Johnson Controls has long been known for building "3/4 plate" batteries. These use plates shorter than industry standard, and a slightly stronger acid solution to develop the same amps as a properly built industry standard battery.

After years of selling them, product built by "East Penn" will always be my Go-To battery supplier. These are labeled "Exide" ,"Electro", NAPA, O'Riley Super Start, and dozens of others.

There are only about 4 actual manufacturers in the U.S.

See, I've had a totally different experience... We used to sell nothing but Exide at Belle Tire here in MI. I ran them in both vehicles (Grand Am and Vue) and the one in my Pontiac just shat out on me, no warning or anything. :blah: Swapped it with an Interstate (Which is all we will sell now) and never had an issue after that.

There's good and bad in both product lines. Honestly the Interstate 3/4 plate scandal was over 20 years ago. I guess what I was inferring is that as good as even the run of the mill $80 to $100 battery is giving $225-250 for a battery is just buying bragging rights.

Our line of Interstate typically retails anywhere from $115 to the $160 range dependent on the model. The Megatron is usually the cheaper end with a lesser (Usually 24 month free replacement warranty) and the Megatron plus is the supposed bad boy battery (Usually a 36 month or better free replacement warranty)... I'm no Optima band wagon guy nor do I give a shit about the 'virgin' lead some of these manufacturers sell batteries on. Just give me something that won't die within a year icon996.gif

Optima red top - 3 years.
Interstate - 5 years.

Best mod... CRD fan shroud mod. Couple pieces of scrap aluminium and some hardware. Much easier access and the radiator feels less threatened.

Is that pro-rated or free replacement? I know that interstate moves to pro-rated after x amount of months.
