I picked up my drive shaft today.
2000 ford mustang automatic 47 inches
I also learned that my stock power steering line works great with the sc400 power steering pump i just need to pick up a 1/2 inch flared 90* fitting male to female ($4 at autoparts store)
So thats 2 steps forward.
I also did some test fitting of the ac compressor (in the alternator's location)
the stock ac comp. will not work ....
But i'm thinking about a gm unit (the R4) with some steel oem brackets & my plasma cutter & mig i can make it mount somewhere on the drivers side of the motor and maybe flip it backwards so the pulley faces inward. id like to put a stock 1uz style compressor on the motor in the stock location but the power steering rack/steering shaft is in the way.
One option is to pull the steering rack and relocate it to under the cross member a very do-able option id just need to pull the rack and crossmember and remove the 4x4 axle mounts off the subframe (2x4 and 4x4 use the same subframe) then notch it and add support. i may do this in the future. a/c is important in central fl
id rather have ac over power steering any hot day lol.
But ac will happen later on right now i am going to focus on getting that sucker mounted in an wired up. ill just have to use that windows down @ 45-55 ac .
I have the whole weekend off finally so i plan to hit it hard starting Friday night. (i work 7a-5p mon-fri at my main job id explain what i do but its complicated.. and i work 7a to 4p Sundays at patriot transmissions & performance) and hunt the junkyards on sat to find parts to sell on ebay / buy cars to re-sell or part out ect.
My goals for this weekend are:
1. make the motor mount holes bigger on the cross member
1.5 cut the excess off the driver side mount so all the bolts thread into the block
2. weld the transmission mounts together or adapt the trans cross member to the supra trans mount.
3. bolt the engine in with the headders on and not pull it out again. (its a pain doing it by your self with a shi**y engine hoist on rough pavement)
4. connect the power steering lines.. easy easy
5. install the drive shaft.. easy easy
6. convert the fuel evap hard line into the fuel return line and install a vented gas cap like the old cars have (gates style with a valve) (the evap hardline is exactly the same as the fuel feed line made with stainless steel coated with rubber)
7. re-wire oem pump to ignition switch with relay
8. install bosch 044 inline fuel pump with relay
9. install aem wide-band o2 sensor/gauge and input wire to ecu
10. wire it up.. pretty easy the harness is already made i just have to run a few wires ...
1. ignition switch wire for starter
2. ecu battery wire and ignition switch wire
3. wire from alternator to battery
4. wire from alternator to stock harness
5. stock temp sensor to stock harness (i re-used it)
I cant start the engine until the an- fittings and fuel regulator and oil filter relocation parts arrive. but i will be damn close by Sunday.
i need this thing mobile asap. Want to help fund this project? Well i have lots of leftover parts just let me know what you need and ill give you a deal. can ship too.
