Sounds like tires are not too great in the snow. What kind of tires do you have on it?
When I had GoodYear Integrity's, those things would spin all day on a warm, wet day. Unless I accelerated like a granny. Glad I got rid of them before winter, last year.

Get better tires.
I have yet to even lock in my front hubs during the last 3 winters.Rocking 2wd only in the snow/ice with no issues.

my stock wrangler HP's were abysmal in the snow /ice/ or anything that wasn't bare pavement. SR-A , ST or whatever have the same story.
Get real rubber and a lot of those issues go away even in 2WD. After i stuck my rental truck last winter on stock SR-A last winter, it was the last time i consider highway tires. This tends to be the sentiment of most on this board.
A decent AT tire will help significantly. If you don't see lots of snow its a good compromise.
My duratracs are a tad aggressive for summer time highway but very nice this time of year for the following 6 months. The snow flake symbol isn't complete ********.

No just good tires .... if you have the stock GY's on there ... that is your main problem.

No snow tires necessary. I have Hankook Dynapro A/Ts that I just drove yesterday in their first snow. The performed amazingly. I tried to do donuts in 2WD, and to my surprise, I COULDN'T! Be it this was only 3 inches of snow, but still! The SR-As I had before these would spin the Jeep like a top.
And as for the Subaru comment, even with the GY SR-As, I ran circles around an ex-buddy's Subby Forester using my 4WD. Had to dig him (and a Mazda Tribute) out of snow I was just cruising through.

I agree. I was driving around last night in the snow through town and on untouched back roads with no problem whatsoever. Even with stock tires I've never spun, slipped or slid in 4wd unless I wanted to. I've been nothing but impressed with how the KJ performs in the snow.

I don't know what it is about the KJ's but both of our's get around better than any vehicle I have ever drove on snow covered roads.
My old 1997 Subaru Outback Sport with almost no tread never spun the tires in the snow, I am disappointed that my 1st snow with decent tread I can't make it up a hill in 4-hi without the tires spinning. I have been driving in the snow for 27 years btw.

What tires do you have? We can't say anything to help unless you give this information. You could have brand new goodyear sr-a tires and still have crappy traction. Tires are everything in the snow.
Go get some Duratracs and then come back and tell us how good those are. The KJ is not an AWD car, it is a 4x4 Jeep and weighs 4200 pounds. It is NOT a subaru.

That right there I know is 100% false.I was born at night but it wasn't last night.
It's all about the tires and how you drive. The Liberty is great in the snow.
I live in Canada and in the mountains - trust me I know what I am talking about. Do yourself a favor and Subaru up some decent tires for your Jeep.

I'll reiterate what everyone else has already said...get some good tires. I had some crappy generic tires on my Liberty when I bought it. Even though they were brand new, they sucked! They would spin out on wet pavement, and were terrible in the snow...but even that being said, I could still go places in the snow with it I couldn't go with a FWD van or car.
Do yourself a favor and get some real all-terrain tires. You'll be happy.

This topic reminds me of this video I made of my friend's 2009.5 G8 GXP on A/S Kumo Escta's. New tires too. He was testing the limits on the tires, as he bought the G8 few weeks before the snow hit. Too bad he sold it, miss that car
