Well...

Took a lot of parts off the front end. It was going very slow, which did not surprise me. No big deal - I have three days, right? Was working on getting the UCA's out and saw a lady come out of the management office. Turns out that "major repairs" are not allowed in the parking lot. I pointed out that I wasn't repairing anything, just adjusting some stuff. (Close enough, after all, nothing is "broken", except my bank account.)

Anyway, I had to promise to have things wrapped up by tonight with a strong hint that if I was still parked there working on it tomorrow it might be a problem. Old parts went back on. New parts went back in the apartment.

This might not have happened except for the fact that some little car was parked in the far corner of the lot where I did my brakes last weekend. Some parts of the lot here (close to building, mostly) are always filled and I knew there was no way I'd be able to work in peace there. Other areas are a little more on the hilly side. This place was flat and remote, but not remote enough, I guess.

So now I'm a little discouraged. On top of everything else, I've had a pinched nerve in my neck for weeks and it was killing me today. I'm sure things will look a little better in the morning.

Thats what ***** about apartment complexes etc, can't have any fun at all ! :happy175:
So no garage to hide out in?

I forgot to answer your question about the height of our garage. I can stand under the door when it's open, put my wrist on top of my head, then touch the bottom of the door with my fingertips. I am 5'10".

I'm trying to think if there is anyone around here I could borrow a garage or driveway from. The biggest problem would be having them be close enough to work on it over a couple days, because I don't see myself getting this in an afternoon. :emotions34:

Let the air out of the tires to get it out of the garage once it's lifted... New problem: Air is free; how to get it into the tires.

Good luck. Management should be off on Sunday and Labor Day.

No, no luck. I looked at it again on Sunday but didn't really want to start something I didn't think I'd finish. Yesterday I went to the gym in the morning and the ballgame last night.

Home - Rent A lift

Rent a Bay!

Our bays are equipped to handle motorcycles, cars, trucks, SUVs, and even other vehicles such as boats. Our goal is to provide a convenient, comfortable and safe work environment regardless of the weather outside and the time of day.

Bring your own tools and equipment or rent tools from us. Let us know if there is a special tool or piece of equipment you’ll need. We’ll let you know if it’s available for you to rent.

But ya got to wear eyeware and biggest thing is proper shoes, I wear sandals to do lifts !

Progress report it is:

I am trying to either find a free place to work on it, rent a space, or make a deal with the maintenance guys for some weekend shenanigans here at the apartment complex. Stay tuned.

Home - Rent A lift

Rent a Bay!...

Questions:

  1. If we were to do two Jeeps could we get it done in half a day? Or would reserving the bay for a full day be safer? (I'm guessing the latter.) This is assuming there are two guys working together and helping each other.
  2. Would we need a lift? The price is significantly different, but if it save gobs of time and makes it easier I'd go for it.

I'd do a full day
I'm sure you'll run into complications and take some breaks and time will fly faster than you think

I think using a lift would make it easier just so you can stand and work on the stuff instead of being crouched over the whole time
I was VERY sore after finishing mine
I wouldn't think it would save a lot of time using one, but it'd make everything easier and make your body feel better once finished

Just as easy I'd assume
Unless you're throwing in a few iso's then it might be a little harder since you'd have to pull the axle down while throwing the springs in
