I'll be opening up my front door panels soon to replace the speakers (blown) and was wondering if it would be worth it to put in some sound retarding material in there while I had it open?

Has anyone done this and have you noticed a difference?

I've been thinking about putting this stuff in the doors and on the floor of my KJ for a while but have been scared of prying open my door panels. I've always broken a clip or two in my other vehicles.

Now I have to, to replace the speakers.

Any advice on removing the panels and using Dynamat would be appreciated.

I've used it, but only the speaker kit that's like a sqaure foot piece per speaker. I don't think I can give much judgement based on that....but I do know that it's good for fixing rattles, I've used it for that too. It's good for filling in any gaps there may be around your new speakers also. I guess if you use it all over the door panel or on the floor like you said, you could probably tell a big difference. I got mine from wal-mart...(accu-mat) for $10 which included (2) square foot pieces good for (2) speakers.

I was thinking about covering the panel as billforde did below in his tailgate. I would of course cut out the speaker area, and whatever needed to pass through to the interior.

You must be registered for see images

But, should I put this stuff behind the speaker - along the exterior metal instead?

I've heard of people doing that, and that it helps alot with the sound quality and I'm sure it would help with road/wind noise and such too....maybe some of the dynamat experts on here will be able to help more. :D

Thanks for your input Heath, it's one of those things that if I'm successful in pulling the front door panels without breaking a clip then I'll do the rears too right away while I have the cohones.

Oh, is there really any difference between the regular Dynamat and their Extreme product?

Thanks...

well, for that I have NO idea...for the prices they charge for that stuff, it better be worth it. that's why I bought the "accu-mat" from wally-world, that way I would'nt be sick to my stomach if it didn't make a difference. BUT, it might be one of those things where "you get what you pay for"...so anyway, I'm not really sure of a difference between the "regular" and the "extreme".

Hi Heath, I just noticed the specs of your Jeep in your signature.

How do you like your sound system now?

Did you install it or have someone else do it?

I love it, it's plenty loud enough and it's clear too. And, I did everything myself which saves alot of money!
