I believe you would ahve too do some modifications too the motor to correctly run E-85. You would also more than likely see a decrease in MPG and HP the only reason too run it is too not create such a impact on the environment.

100% ethanol produces proximately 50% less energy. So E-10 produces 5% less energy & E-85 produces about 45% less.

In Minnesota, there are a few gas stations allowed to sell 100% gasoline, but most are mandated to sell E-10. I have run tests in my KJ, the old WJ, my BMW, and a Honda Del Sol, and there is a loss of 5% in MPG measurement when using E-10.

The biggest reason food prices are rising now is because the price of corn has rocketed due to ethanol using corn. Since it takes 5 gallons of water to make one gallon of ethanol, it is draining our aquifers dry. Not sure how good that is for the environment.

In the meantime, we have at least 300 years worth of known oil reserves here in the Continental US, Alaska & the Gulf of Mexico. All we need is a few brave politicians to tell the Sierra Club where to stick it!(banghead)

x2. Vegetable oils are NOT the solution to oil dependence. If we converted all of the crops in the USA into ethanols, it would only cover 30% of our total energy use and then we'd have no food (not to mention ethanol production is EXTREMELY dirty and energy-intensive.) In my original Kansas hometown they added an ethanol plant to the refinery and you can see the smog halfway across the state.
