Well, some may call it blasphemous but what I'd do is go to the local car wash, one you've used before if possible so you know what pressures the hose is capable of. Drop in some tokens/quarters and set the dial to 'engine degreaser' if it has it, 'presoak' if not. On LOW pressure (without pulling the trigger on the wand) spray the engine compartment, being careful around the air intake. You can get some small drops down in the airbox, but you don't want to flood it. Let it sit for a couple of minutes while you turn the selector to 'rinse' and flush the wand til clear water runs out, then rinse the engine, again on LOW. Thats it...
The thing to remember is that engine components are designed to work with some exposure to water; how do you think those guys go thru water up to the hood (or higher with a snorkel attached (biggrin) ). You don't want to let them sit underwater for a long period, but what you expose them to at a car wash would be no worse than driving thru a heavy rain storm.
Thats my opinion anyway. Prime the tank and let the flaming begin icon996.gif
