Does he know for sure the good old boys from Jiffy Lube even did the scratch?
Could of been another customer:shrug: or who knows, without watching it being scratched its anyones guess
I can see being upset about it, I would of been to a point but anytime you go anywhere and walk away from your Jeep a thousand different things can happen to it.

We get blamed daily for crap we didn't do.Last week I got blamed for denting the underneath of a pickup bed,all I did was put wiper blades on,never even entered the pickup let alone drive it anywhere.Touched the wipers for about the 30 seconds it took to put them on.




It's getting so bad we may have to take very detailed pics of each and every scratch/dent/and all other damage before we even accept it in the shop.That will turn that 20min oil change into a 2-3 hour ordeal.

Reminds me of the time some old dude accused me of stealing the wheel weights off of his Silverado...

Since this thread has already gone offroad and into heavy brush, I'll mention that there have been many times when I was doing computer repair that I was accused of breaking something. I got so paranoid that I started grabbing screenshots of any pre-existing problems before starting in on what I was asked to fix.

My boss' husband owns a dry cleaners. Everything is brand new, nothing had damage when it was brought in.

One guy claimed they put a tear in the sleeve of his brand-new $50 Oxford dress shirt. The collar had such an embedded ring of dirt in it, three washes in the super washer (in bags to protect the garments) actually failed to get it out. The presser machine blows air into the sleeves; it does not put a crease in sleeves, but the tear - that also had dirt in the edges, btw - on a creased sleeve obviously was their fault.

He's not the only one..nor, probably, the only one that day. But his claim was denied, unlike most of them. They have cameras at every station and a DVR recording the feeds for a reason, but it doesn't always prove anything.

I am in the same line of business and I too have had to grab cellphone shots of existing damage to protect myself and the company I work for. Especially true when the EU is unhappy about warranty coverage. Unfortunately it's the world we live in.

When you got a key chain with 15 keys and 4 FOB's and all the buttons on the FOB's are worn so the markings are no longer there kinda makes it hard.Plus there are so many brands with many different disarm methods.I just disconnect the battery or let the alarm go off till the boss gets mad and calls the owner.

none of which apply to my case. One key fob, with clear readable keys, not worn. button clearly indicates Lock or unlock, with pictures. So even a moron can figure it out.

Jeep was running when i drove it in.

And again all of this is irrelevant. the point of the matter was I do not need to be called an idiot.

3 bay garage, as are most jiffy lube stations around here that i've seen, Jeep parked in last bay with a wall on drivers side (side where damage was done) and with most Shops, for liability reasons customers and non employees are not allowed in.

Also yes i know for sure, i may have or have not stated but i was able to wipe my finger across the line removing the residue(poweder) from the scratch itself. Which had it happened earlier would have blown off with mere driving. had just waxed her two days ago, and it rained the day in between, so when waxing i would have noticed it, or if it had happened the next day, the rain would have washed the powdery residue away.

LoL, from the first page (a week ago) of this tred.....
Updated: Jiffy Lube corporate or should i say Lucor, did take fault for the damages, and paid ($1,400 in damages) to have it fixed, as well as a rental car for me. just got her out of the body shop yesterday.

I had a similar experience to this but I took my jeep to Firestone for a quick oil change for a trip to fla. I got it back and it was knockin. brought it to the dealership and had it checked out and firestone sent a " non paid inspector" to start the claim. long story short they dry started it, it spun a bearing and they weren't at fault. new engine paid for by me with no help from them. **** ALL THEM do it yourself! that's all

Thats why none of my vehicles ever go into a shop.
Only time my 04s been in one was when its aligned at a small Mom and Pop place where I'm allowed back in to watch ( of course I trust them more than some of my own family members :happy175:)
