Jeep Liberty and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Take a look at others. Mostly American vehicles. Consumer Reports :freak3: You suck! After reading these bogus reports over and over for a year, I stopped my subscription to their idiotic magazine 2 years ago. They are beyond stupid.

what a load of s*** the most expensive failure ive had on mine was the window regulator which i replaced with the steiger part, coulda gone dealer and had it done under warranty though. so them saying its the least reliable vehicle is pure BS, its definitely the best vehicle ive owned and im more than happy with my investment

The current version of the Liberty is kind of an ugly vehicle-especially the front end which kind of makes it look like an old person's car. I was never interested in it and I rarely see these on the roadway. The older Liberty, although not everyone's cup of tea, at least had a different look to it. I agree with Forbes insofar as the styling and sluggish V6 engine with poor gas mileage.

Reliability? My Liberty has 150,000 thousand miles on it. The most significant repair has been a new radiator, but that was my fault as I never flushed the old coolant out.

The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

I love this vehicle and would like to own one, but will wait for a more powerful V6 to power it about and hopefully deliver some better MPG. The best thing about this Wrangler is the roomy back seat and cargo room. It wouldn't be my first choice for a daily driver, but it would make an awesome fishing or hunting vehicle.

Let's wait and see the new Liberty, which I assume to be a lot different than the Liberty we all know and love. Not to say we will hate it, but it will be something totally different, but kind of resembling the KJ, not KK. Like what they did with WK2, resembling WJ. (That's my opinion, especially front end)

Forbes and CR = toilet paper. (very biased)

Fiat continues to buy more of Chrys/Jeep so I guess we will see what influence they have soon.

I guess Jeep didn't buy enough advertising in Forbes to stay out of their article. Ford must have bough a lot of advertising!

I get so fed up with CR. Every time I read one of their articles it sickens me inside that people really take them to heart.

CR and others rating Jeeps badly is nothing new.

I don't get bothered by stuff like this... I like my Jeep, that's what really matters. Do I have issues with some things Chrysler did with the design? Of course. Does it matter in the long run? Probably not. I drive a Jeep that is nearly 10 years old, and I'm keeping it until I wreck it or the wheels fall off. No reason for me to worry about trade in value :)

Sorry to resurrect the thread- I didn't check the date before I posted. For the mods, I just got back from a 7 month deployment- love the new look!

The new Liberty looks like a throwback to the Cherokee which was replaced by the Liberty in 2002. As an owner of a 96 Cherokee & a 07 Liberty I must say that I love both. Jeeps are not for everybody and the writers of those articles will never understand it as It is a Jeep thing.

Imho, that drivel mag isn't fit to catch the dropings in the preverbial birdcage. What is their agenda? Is it to rate the freedom loving American made autos low?

After 6 years and 90 K miles of ownership, I would still buy another new Liberty. Below are my reasons.

10. It tracks behind a RV with 4 wheels down, without any modifications to the drivetrain or pulling fuses.
9. Great resale value. 12 volt hotspots are always energised.
8. Well laid out dash. Comfortable to drive. Excellent visability. Roof rack.
7. 4 wheel drive, giving that manly feel arrrrrrrrrrrrr
6. 4,000 pounds (not a featherweight)
5. Rated to tow 5,000 pounds (try pulling any weight with that prius)
4. Excellent dry storage inside with rear seat folded down.
5. Very easy to maintain, rarely needed.
2. I can live with 22 mpg. My other car, (a bicycle) gets infinite mpg, so the average of the two approaches infinity.
1. Its bad to the bone.
