I Seafoam my KJ once a year... usually in the spring. Some in the fuel tank, some in the oil, and the rest in the vacuum line @ the brake booster. Do all of this early in the week, and then the weekend change the oil and the spark plugs. Seems to help 'perk up' the system a bit and I get a mild improvement in MPG's - nothing drastic. That could be the new plugs, considering I do it all at the same time.

I use the STP injector cleaner off the shelf. Did my first cleaning at 50,000 miles, now do it around every 15k. I try not to overdo it 'cause that stuff can be ******* your O2 sensors. I have no empiricle evidence that the STP brand harms the O2 sensors specifically, but many fuel additives can, so I just play it safe.

SeaFoam is the BEST!
I use it in my Kj and my boat. I love that stuff, cleans really well. A neighbor of mine was working on his outboard last summer because it was idling like crap. He said he cleaned everything out but it still ran terrible. Ran a can of Seafoam through it in the garage and you could see all the carbon and stuff come out...motor ran fine afterward

I've never heard of sea foam before about 6months ago. What does it smell like? I can't think of anything that would smoke when it was "working" and not smoke when it was not needed.

IMHO the best fuel injector cleaner is Techron. Available at Chevron stations/wallmart.

3 times a year before a good highway boogie, I add the Techron to half tank of fuel for proper mixture.

LucasOil

Use this stuff in all our vehicles 1-2 times a year. The trucks at work get this stuff often, gas or diesel, not sure what intervals tho.

I usually put this in a tank prior to some highway miles to ensure flow through fuel system - and throttle up a lot :) (I usually drive the Jeep like I just stole it but you know what I mean)

Buy the jugs when they go on sale, well worth it for the price. Lucas makes some decent products and this one has worked for me awhile now.

I also use Seafoam. I usually add it as directed to my oil when I'm about 100-120 miles from an oil change. Then, I change my oil as normal. I don't do it EVERY oil change though. Every 7 changes or so which typically ends up being once a year unless I take a long trip.

Occassionally, I'll add it to my fuel. In the beginning of winter, I usually run my tank nearly to E and then fill it all the way back up and add Seafoam.

You guys must not have seen that thing on TV ,think it was dateline
about the effects of this stuff and how it is not recommended by most mfg.'s
they showed where it can cause deposits to break off in large pcs. and damage internal engine parts or clog injectors making matters worse
they had a guy from Honda that had an engine they tore apart and showed where at 70K miles some type of cleaner or flush was used and it cause a pcs. of junk to come loose
and caused damage to 1 or more of the pistons
end result was a new engine ,at the owners cost, not rebuildable due to damage to the piston wall

after this you can take your chances I will not

I put a bottle of "Techron Fuel System Cleaner" in the tank about once a year before a trip and then give it a real good highway run.

Goes back to doing regular maintenance, if you don't take care of something for 70-100,000 miles then sure you try to clean it up then it maybe a problem. Take care of it from the get go and no problems
Case in point, my Stapfather bought an S-10 Blazer brand new in 95, every 3 to 6 months back in the shop EGR clogged up, all kinds of problems, they replaced all kinds of things and it kept it up. After about 65,000 I tore it down my self, cleaned everything up good and started using Seafoam on it everything year. Now it has 175,000 miles, and is 16 years old and runs like a champ yet. Never had any more problems.
Now of course it could be that with my laying my hands on it that it was healed but I like to think the Seafoam works on it !!!
