FYI....Plastic vacuum lines

So while I had the Jeep in the garage cleaning up the rust under the 3rd brake light, I was poking around under the hood. Not sure what lead me to it, but I started checking my vacuum lines, and discovered one of the plastic lines was cracked and pitted. Not sure if anyone else has found this to be an issue. It's the two lines that run parallel to the battery, and into some round vacuum solenoid or something. It was the smaller line, and I'm not sure whether it was just from vibration, or possibly from all the corrosion that was on the battery and terminals when I bought it. I'm hoping this was the cause of my slight stutter when under a load and low RPM's. It was a small enough crack and chip that I just patched the line with some epoxy. I'll get a pic of the repair and location up, but I didn't take one of the line before I fixed it.

Evap lines from/to purge solenoid. Got pics of the damage?

If it was a issue the check engine light would be on throwing a EVAP leak code.A leak in the EVAP system shuts it down and does not effect how the engine runs.

BTW, never had a check engine light. Also, I checked my EVAP lines when I did the rear diff oil change...I didn't see any issue there with the crack that everyone posts on here, so here's keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

Troy, last time I did some work under the hood of my KJ, I rerouted the cables for the winch. While I was goofing off trying to run the fat cables I unplugged and removed the Purge solenoid. I put it back in but did not connect the lines. Poor KJ ran like crap for a dozen or so start/stop cycles before it popped a light and got my attention. A wee tiny leak might take a bit of time to show up as a problem seeing as I had the line off and sucking air directly into the TB and it still took a few days to pop a CEL. I face palmed when I saw what I had done.

I'm getting the CEL for the evap leak code. Found out when I was installing my lift I had to remove the air intake to get to the struts. Started throwing the code the other day. Sure enough one of the hoses had a split in it where it hooks into the engine. I took it off and duct taped it for a temp fix. Went to Oreilly and cleared off the code and bought some hose to fix it. Thought my duct tape job fixed it but headed into work this evening the CEL came back on. Guess I'll be using that hose after all!:disgust:

If I fix the leak will the CEL go off or will I have to go and clear it again?:shrug:
