eeek! I HATE wrecks. Have been in too many near death experiences there myself. Glad you were not injured!

Was wondering the same thing as sota.
Good to know the KJ is a good one to wreck in, if that must happen. I like tough vehicles.

curious: does it have the recall hitch installed? you know it was supposed to erupt into fire and flame after that hit, at least according to the media.

yes it had it. no fire. no holes i drove it home.

I don’t want to pry too much if you don’t want to talk about the damage, but do you have details on what got destroyed from the hit?
I’m particularly curious about the fuel tank, as that looks to be right around where your Jeep got caved in the most.

the damage is the rear gate and rear posts (c posts?) where the tail lights screw into. the gate is folded in. the posts arent too bad and could be fixed if labor wasnt so high. the fuel tank was not even in danger. when looking underneath, it is fine as is the tow hitch and rails. the rear plastic bumper is crushed which makes it look worse than it is. it honestly could all be fixed really easy, but the ins doesnt want to do it as of this moment.

That sux sometimes that insurance companies will total a vehicle because of a silly total loss ratio formula. But sometimes things work out for the better. I had an 05 Mini Cooper S that was rear ended by a teenager who was texting. Pushed in the lift gate a bit and didn't look that bad, it even opened and closed but upon further inspection it bent the frame so because of the total loss ratio they gave me a check. The irony is the girl that hit me was driving a Wrangler and my next vehicle was the Libby lol...fate?

so far it has worked out for the best. the 03 i picked up has the better transmission and just feels tougher. its already got a lift, but ill still put on my new frankenlift asap because im not sure how old the lift is. it feels ok but is a little squishy, but not too bad though. it has a sunroof which my 06 did not. tomorrow im swapping out the speakers as i have full range system in the 06. my sub got crushed but the amp and everything else is fine. the rear air deflector will also get swapped. its after market piece of course, butr i like how it looks. all i will lose is my light bar. i can always get a brighter led bar in a few months, if i find one that doesnt look so stupid, like most of them do. with the sunroof, mine wouldnt swap over anyway. i finished all of my sensor swaps today that were put on new 2yrs ago. i can already feel the difference for the better. the 03 sensors were just about dead going on looks alone. once i get all of the rest done tomorrow, i have a ric flair sticker for the back window. times to go wooooooo!!! and hit the mountains.

That's funny, I think my 02 felt a bit more rugged and sturdier than my 05. I like the 05 a lot but just feels lighter for some reason.
