When I first installed my EVIC I got lazy and tied the BATT & ACC to a separate fused wire I ran to the battery. However if my Libby sat for a week the EVIC drained my battery until it was dead.

Since I've corrected my wiring mistake it runs great, no more dead battery :D

cool, i wasn't sure from your original post if you were continually blowing fuses or not. glad you got it all smoothed out.

and i don't know why people have to "make fun" of questions on here. explaining to the OP the dangers of oversizing a fuse, and helping him realize the err of his ways doesn't require a bunch of "wow....." comments (except the jeep on fire was really funny.... :) )

i've been on many other boards that do the same thing, and none of those comments do anything to help the OP or the other members of the board. then you wonder why members spout off?

He came off as not knowledgeable as to how dangerous that can be. Its not always apparent that the ridicule is actually a blessing in disguise. I don't like the over use of the WOW comments either, but sometimes they help. More than one though, IMO is too much.
In highschool I had a friend overload a circuit by running an amp wire off the fuse box. The wire he ran happened to run over his legs under the dash. While driving he started to smell something and then (summer time wearing shorts) got a red hot wire across his bare legs. I think he still has a tiny scar. Anyway, not good.
Mag, I'm glad you got it straightened out.

i agree, he needed to understand the importance of this issue and not be ignorant of it. but making fun of, or ridiculing someone, doesn't really bring home the importance and safety of the matter. it just makes someone defensive, which is what we all witnessed.

i'm just asking everyone, even those who are experienced and realize the ignorance in some of the statements made by users, to slow down and try not to be all bristly in their comments. i've read stuff on here by seasoned members that really makes me get defensive, and it's mostly because they answer the same questions over and over, or see something that could possibly win a Darwin Award, but you don't have to jump all over someone's case to get your point across.

that's all! i'll get off my soapbox now.... :)
