Help with broken liftglass post !?!?!?!

Got a 2002 KJ Renegade and the post that connects the shock to my liftglass rusted into the shock and broke off! Stealership doesnt sell the post seperate from the glass. Any ideas where I can get one or what will replace it ?? BTW been viewing this forum for quite a while b4 registering, this is quite a resource for the KJ !!

Did you try talking to a glass shop? they might even have a piece laying around that will work

Gotta bite the bullet and buy the glass. It's not a replaceable part.

id unhook the shock andstore it
be careful with the glass and wait for the otherside to break. or just unhook the shocks all together.

if you are real creative... and have a bunch of masking tape... put about a 1/4 of masking tape where you want a post (put the right size hole through the tape first). now use a sand blaster to cut through the glass just aim it in the hole of the tape (might be even better to use a piece of metal here at a matched shape to the glass. don't force anything, just sand away til the glass is gone where you need it. This is the process you use to cut down tempered glass when you chop the top on vehicles with curved tempered glass. now you might be able to put a post in from an old hatch back toyota or honda car

Thanks, figured I am S.O.L. and have to buy a new one but I will scour the local glass joints. Boneyards have the glass for about 150 but for that kinda dough I'd live with it or rig it up to set on one shock........... anyway thanks for the help !!!!

you might be able to also find a stronger strut to replace the one that still is mounted, like from some older hatchback that has to lift metal and glass, though it might stress your one remaining stud too much... There is also the posibility of trying to scratch up the surface it goes on and then use liquid nails or JBweld to see if the oem stud will stick back on

The insurance thing usually only covers Front Windshields. Believe it or Not side and rear windows are optional. I've never seen a vehicle not pass inspection b/c of a missing or broken side or rear window. Of Course if your windows are damage due to accident or vandalism They replace them like any other vehicle repair.
