taking my 02 with 179k on it to the dealership on monday 1-29-18 to get all the fluids drained and replaced as well as the drivetrain looked at due to some awkward shifting slams causing the jeep to jerk and make a bang noise, as well as a ecu reflash because im getting 12mpg and i think the computers need to be reset to restore the factory economy standards. im also getting a pop from my steering at full lock so im asking the dealer to look at that as well. im assuming this dealer service is ganna be costly but id like to have some mechanic that knows what theyre doing to get under that Jeep, as im assuming it has never been taken to the dealer for a servicing its whole life. ***** im ganna be the first but its gatta happen eventually.. otherwise ive got the rear diff rebuilt, head gasket attempt but failed.. new radiator, upgraded alternator to 370 amp, new front and rear driveshafts, front diff serviced, rear driver window regulator, rear wiper motor twice (subwoofer vibration kept breaking them in half lol) ive got some pretty bad oil consumption about 2-2.5 qrts every 3-400 miles.... at one point it was 3qrts every 100miles, i was paying more in oil than gas(sadness) the entire AC system replaced except the evap core which was the problem from the start but a $1500 job, sooo not worth it rn lol my rear boomerang bolts are bent from being loose.. soo yeah im wanting to upgrade to the JBA weld on 4 link but thall be after the 4" JBA platinum lift, freaking $6k lift but itll be so worth it.

With that much oil consumption I would get that figured out well before a lift...

Some people joke about how many gallons to the mile, your getting to that realm of "how many quarts to the mile". That ain't right!!!

Leaking? Burning (cropduster)? Forget to reinstall the drain plug??

05 3.7l Sport 2WD, 179k, first water pump at 106k, second water pump (done at pep boys) at 150k. Radiator at 151k (I think pep boys used to wrong coolant and didn't flush the old stuff). U-Joints at 162k. Output speed sensor at 174k. Lower ball joints, upper control arms and tie rods at 178k. About to put in a transgo shift kit next weekend along with a new cooler and fan.

Forget to reinstall the drain plug??

Never had this happen, but I had an occurance where I had a slow leak on the filter. Checked the level one day and eek2.gif. looked around everything and noticed a thin streak on the bottom side of the filter where the slow leak was basically leaving deposits.

Will the dealer reflash your ECU/PCM back to stock if you ask? Has anyone had that done?
After the last dealer flash I feel like the Jeep is bogging down and trying to drive at too low a RPM. As a result, there is a lag between hitting the gas and when the Jeep gets enough power to move faster.

January of this year. I was told that the transmission would have to re-learn how to shift but it is still bogging down. It was going into OD at about 40 mph and now will go in at about 45 mph. Just driving around town the RPM's stay between 1200 and 2000.
I have tried disconnecting the battery a few times and then driving more aggressively but it still stays in the same range.

Just joined the forum recently. I bought an 04 with 139k on the clock, hoping with proper maintenance she'll make it to 250k!

05 Sport 3.7l with 149k on the odo. The only repairs that comes to mind are oil pan leak, transmission leak, timing cover leak, brakes, and something about the hd cooling fan hitting the shroud one time and had to take it to the shop. Otherwise the transmission and timing cover leak which I hope to do within this year

2005 CRD manual.
Owned from 160000 to the current 204000km. Still going strong. Although 400Nm 'strong' makes it the most enjoyable car I ever owned it is also the most expensive regarding parts from the stealers.

In the last 55000km I had 3 'mission abort' failures:
- burst turbo air exit pipe,
- waterpump failure. My fault: unknowingly doing 195,000km on the original timing belt an water pump. TG for the low water level audible warning feature that saved the engine.
- leaking turbo oil feed pipe (luckily fault found before running out of oil)

Problem owning an 'oldish' Jeep in South Africa: availability of affordable & knowledgeable mechanics and cost of spares especially when breaking down far from service centres (where I use it).

Major upcoming Services:
- NSG350 reverse and 1st gear fix (original owner missed the recall)
- oil leak around EGR valve.

As keen DIY-er I find it very difficult to access nearly anything on this car. A lot is squashed into a very small volume here.

07 with 130,000 miles. Changed: water pump and radiator @ 68750 miles. Trainny changed @ 77500 miles.
Trainny is currently on limb in mode since 2 years ago. I can go on 2 gear (automatic transmision) without exceeding the 50 mph.
