HOW TO: Add Under-Dash Courtesy Lights

Wow, that interior is really bright. Did you also install LED map lights too? Seats look pretty bright too.
Where did you get the LED strip? I couldn't really do this on the front because ever since we had a baby, I have to drive with all my lights on for a period of time, and with that much light inside, it would blind me What I was planning to do is to drill a tiny hole on C pillar trim and stick LEDs via double sided tape, and run those lights and tap into under dash lights so my wife can see our son better at night.

yep got LED map and cargo lights... it is really bright but honestly its not too bad driving with them on at night..... these are the lights i got, 2 for $5 not bad. i just ordered 2 more for the back and ordered 2 36" strips from the same company for my puddle lamps... i think extra lights in the rear are also a great idea like you were thinking id like to see those when ur done... do you think i could run front and rear courtesy plus puddle lamps from the under dash lights without frying the BCM?

So, No fry..
It's very hard to tell from the pix but I am sure it looks good.

Still, better check with people who know these electrical stuff to make sure they don't hurt anything.
My assumption would be to run them directly off battery via relay, relay being powered by the under dash lights, so that it is totally independent from rest of the system. These are 12V, right? I have no clue how these work, but I would assume that would be the right way. Not loading all to under dash wiring. Don't quote me on this, though.. Just brainstorming.

It must look cool to have the lights come on when you unlock from distance!

thanks do you know anyone specifically i could ask? im running 100% LED on the interior and puddle lamps, so iwasnt worried at first but i would like to makesure... and yes it is pretty cool to walk up on the jeep with the whole surrounding ground bathed in light, the beam radius isamazing

Few questions

OK - This little lady has a few questions regarding the foot lights... (underdash) ... I have ordered the blue LED for the underdash lights and am super excited to get them installed I have noticed the install directions - seems simple... I do not think that I have a housing though - can anyone guide me as to where i can get one of these or two I guess.... And which ones I would get.. Can they be obtained at Autozone???

OK I have a question for the LED installers. I installed the well lights from Blue water LED and they work perfect. What I noticed though is when the lights are off they emit a faint glow like they are at 10% power. Has anyone else had this problem? and if you have how did you remedy this? I was thinking maybe a micro-relay.

Yes I have this issue. No I never fixed it (because I just don't care!).

You need load resistance on the circuit somewhere since the LEDs have no load resistance. So you have two options: tie in a halogen bulb somewhere unseen on the circuit to act as a load resistor, or buy load resistors and tie them in. I believe you only need one on the entire circuit (early on in the circuit), but I'm not sure because I hardly cared enough to look at solutions for this.

So I found the wire on the passenger side and spliced in my led lights, but now my dome light won't turn on and the leds won't work either. Any ideas on where I went wrong?

I had a hard time finding any wires on the drivers side because I have an after-market security system and there is so much stuff on that side it's a mess.
