The HORN CHIRP DISABLING / ENABLING instructions are incorrect.

You need to hold the Lock for several seconds and press the Unlock button, then release both to get this feature to work.

Timmer...

Just reviewed the guide, whats wrong with it? Seems like the guide specifies exactly what you said.

To DISABLE (cancel) the horn chirp feature,
Press and hold the transmitter LOCK button for four to ten seconds.
While pressing the LOCK button in, press the UNLOCK button.
Release both buttons.

I can confirm, if you have not figured it out by now, that the 2005 Liberty Manual is misprinted. Mine is at least. For all of those who like me just got their 05 I hope this clears it up. It sure was frustrating trying to disable the horn honk when pushing the wrong button all of the 30 or so times I tried ..lol

It should read ...

To DISABLE (cancel) the horn chirp feature,
Press and hold the transmitter LOCK button for four to ten seconds.
While pressing the LOCK button in, press the PANIC button.
Release both buttons.

Cheers,
Luke

P.S. In the end, it was still this "How To" that solved my problem... Awesome Forum Everybody!

How about being able to open the tailgate with the engine running, any programming for this?

I do it this way and it works on mine. When you get out of the vehicle with the engine running, (leave window open so you don't somehow lock yourself out....don't laugh) push the lock/unlock button on the door up to unlock it. Then when you walk around the back and pull the tailgate handle, it will open. This is the only way I have figured out how to open it with the key in the ignition and the engine running on my 05 anyway. See if that works on yours.

TAIL GATE RELEASE DELAY
The liberty can be set to pop the tailgate instantly when you press the button, or require it to be pressed and held for it to open
Press the UNLOCK button for four to ten seconds.
While pressing the UNLOCK button, press the TAIL GATE RELEASE button.
Release both buttons.

Just tried this. Doesn't work on mine. And the procedure is even detailed in my manual.

I have to thank who-ever for the resurrection of this thread. It drove me nuts that the remote only unlocked the driver first...Just did that one today and has me very happy:D

Just did the "unlock all doors when pressing the unlock button. Worked like a charm. Hopefully it will also work for unlocking all the doors when the Jeep is turned off. Will try it out this aft.

Alright, so despite the fob unlocking all of the doors with one press of the unlock button, it didn't solve my other pet peeve.

Is there a way to have all the doors unlock (automatically) once the Jeep is shut off? Currently, it only unlocks the front doors. I don't have an EVIC.

New Liberty do you mean to say when you exit your Libby, with the engine off, all your doors don't unlock?

My 04 Libby does unlock all the doors on exit and that particular feature can be configured via an EVIC or by the dealership. Maybe you can borrow somebody's EVIC long enough to perform the programing. Have you considered adding an EVIC to your Libby? It's pretty simple to do. The hardest part is actually finding an EVIC for your year of Libby.

Do a search of the forum for the EVIC and you'll find everything you need to know.

That's precisely what I am saying. The front doors unlock, but the rear ones do not. I know that the child locks are not engaged either.

I don't have an EVIC yet, and it isn't in the immediate plans. I just figured since one was able to reprogram their rigs to do other things, that there may be a possibility that I could reprogram that function.

Some of this info won't work on the '07 KJ limited. I had to use the Key for some and the EVIC for others - finally got them all to my liking!

Here's some tips on how you can tweak your Jeep's keyless entry system to fit your indiviaul needs. Many of these options are available to program with an EVIC, but if your Libby is not equipped with one, you can still make some changes to suit your needs. The features below are available to anyone who has a keyless entry system, regardless of whether it is equipped with Sentry key/Alarm.

AUTOMATIC (ROLLING) LOCKS
This is the "Lock when the vehicle is going 15mph" feature. This feature can also be disabled through the EVIC.
The rolling locks feature can be toggled ON/OFF by using the DRB IIIt only.

HORN CHIRP DISABLING / ENABLING
This controls if you want your Libby to beep the horn when locking via the keyless entry. * Reports indicate that this does not work for 05 mdoels.
To DISABLE (cancel) the horn chirp feature,
Press and hold the transmitter LOCK button for four to ten seconds.
While pressing the LOCK button in, press the UNLOCK button.
Release both buttons.

To ENABLE the horn chirp feature, repeat the above procedure.

OPTICAL CHIRP (FLASH) DISABLING / ENABLING
This controls if you want your Libby to flash the hazard lights when locking/unlocking via the keyless entry.
To DISABLE (cancel) the optical chirp feature,
Press and hold the transmitter LOCK button for four to ten seconds.
While pressing the LOCK button in, press the TAILGATE RELEASE button.
Release both buttons.

To ENABLE the optical chirp feature, repeat the above procedure.

This will toggle between PRESS AND HOLD and PRESS (no delay).

UNLOCK SEQUENCE
When unlocking the liberty, you can choose between unlocking drivers door first or unlocking all doors simultaneously.
Press and hold the transmitter UNLOCK button for four to ten seconds.
While pressing the UNLOCK button in, press the LOCK button.
Release both buttons.

This will toggle between Driver door first and Unlock all doors function.

I know this is old, but I somehow disabled the flashing lights when locking/unlocking? Well I tried the sequence, but it did not re enable it..
Am I doing something wrong, any other suggestions?
Thanks!

Thank you for posting this, my fiance will appreciate this instead of waiting for me to hit the button twice :) (normally I would just hit it once and the poor things would be standing outside looking in at me freezing...)
