Hello this is my first post here !
I have a 2.5 inch Daystar suspension lift, stock coils and struts, I am looking to add some crd/HD springs front and rear with some new UCA's. This being because of my winch/brush bar adding 120 pounds compressing my coils. I would also like to get some opinions of rocky road vs jeepin by Al's a arms, I am a student and the rocky roads are cheaper and I don't have much money. Thanks here's a pic of my front setup

Throw the Daystar in the trash bin
Take Rocky Road out of your vocabulary
NOW get a real lift OME 927s or if you want really heavy duty OME 790s in front. With the winch 927s will work , complete new coil spring lift is what is needed new springs and shocks all around
Jeepinbyal UCAs more money but well worth the price

The Daystar lift is pretty crappy, but it is cheap. You re-used stock springs that probably had half an inch to an inch and a half of sag on them, so your overall lift from original stock height was not the advertised 2.5 inches. There are many, many, discussions on the internet about spacer vs suspension lift, some of which are even full of useful information (most of which are filled with speculation and idiots, but that's the internet for you).

Going to CRD coils to offset a bumper/winch is pretty common. I'd start setting aside money for a decent suspension lift, though. A frankenlift, OME, econolift from JBA, or any of the super-awesome JBA lifts will make the vehicle ride a ton better while giving you a bit more height and articulation.

Rocky Road arms have quality control issues and have had fitment and bending issues, from what I've read. They are basically knock-offs of the JBA arms, which are supposedly pretty bullet proof. I know the JBAs have rebuildable upper ball joints, not sure if the RR ones do or not.

Also, as a general rule, don't take anything Tom says as a personal attack. He's really blunt, but is one of the (if not the) most knowledgeable person on the forum.

Hope that helps.

Stock springs and a Daystar are never going to work with the winch on there. Even with no extra weight a Daystar is a poor choice since your springs are so weak, / old and worn out.
If you have over 50,000 miles on it, springs and shocks are done for. Installing stock CRD springs with the Daystar is a bad idea as well

You aren't kidding. I have 76k on mine, and the CV axles go up to the wheel hubs. :happy175:

I can believe it!! I had the one who came in over 1.5 inches lower than stock height at about 75,000 miles . He was wondering why it rode so bad. :icon_lol:

OK I got the general idea, thanks for all your help guys, I got the thought of combining the spacer and coils from somone with a 2 inch BDS coil with a 2 inch daystar spacer, he might have done some other stuff to male it work.

Not a good idea at all I bet he has issues with CVs binding etc since he is too tall . Just because someone has done it doesn't make it right as far as building something to last long term. Been working on lifts on these KJs for 10 years so have an idea of what works and what is not a good idea to even try:icon_lol:

Many are - you're just one of the few who will admit it. :happy175:

What Tom lacks in tact on occasion is more than offset by his expertise. He's like the R. Lee Ermey of the Liberty world. You might not like the way he says it, but it pays to listen to him. :favorites13:
