Hey guys, I haven't been around here in ages, but my 05 Libby became a total loss (their fault) in December. During my searching for another Jeep, I ran across what I swear is tjkj's liberty. The front bar looks a bit different light wise though from what I remember. Searching shows this one was a salvage in Colorado at one point, but it seems to have made it's way here to Washington and looks rebuilt. Unfortunately, there's only one photo.

Woh cool find ! $2000, makes no sense...No plates on it..
What's the deal in WA state regarding a salvage status, / certification for being roadworthy with plates again?

Deals too good to be true usually are.

That bumper+winch alone is worth close to $1k so even if it isnt running it should be priced higher.

With all the information about it other than odometer miles missing, and an oddly low price... something has to be off here.

Salvage title vehicles are illegal on the roads here, but under certain circumstances a rebuilt brand maybe issued on a new title making it legal again. Just to note, front plates are a requirement here.
https://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistration/salvaged.html

Personally I tend to stay away from anything like that as I never know what's been done to it, and frames/impact points can never really be "true" again from what I understand.

If the weather hasn't been so sketchy out here, I'd try to make an appt with the guy just to see what's what. The reported mileage seems awfully low to me unless it's a new motor?

I came to learn he said it was totalled last year, and someone had put it up for sale again not much longer after looking like new again back in Nov 2018 in Colorado. /shrug

A 'salvage' title here can be as simple as a theft recovery. Doesn't have to be a collision.

It can also be condition of a settlement where the owner gets to keep the vehicle.

Do your homework and diligence. There can be very good deals on rebuilt/salvage vehicles.

After modding it as extensively as he did, I wonder if the insurance buy out was almost a blessing... as you can tell - the market seems pretty weak for private sale

Insurance buyout is never usually a good thing :emotions34:

Well what the hell am I missing? Parting that thing out would get him way more money than any crappy insurance buy out. Hell, Id buy that rear bumper from him for good money!
