Jeep won't start! DD! Help!

Did an oil change yesterday, everything ran fine, started it up this AM, move it to a spot, realized I had to move it again, went to go turn it on(literally 5 seconds later), and it wouldn't turn over. Starter doesn't even crank, whine click or anything, all electrics work...going to try jumping it in a bit...but otherwise I'm lost. It's throwing a p0522(oil pressure sensor) code but that's it. Help!


**Update** Tried jumping it, no dice, no action from the starter at all...must be a bad starter? or something in the electrical system making the starter not start.

Back in mid January, I had a problem with mine not cranking. Play around with the battery hook ups and such and see what happens. If you have a trusty mechanic, have them check the whole system. My local place did it for free.

How many miles you got on it?

The first thing you should check is the ground. Follow the negative cable from the battery and make sure the connections are solid on the other end. Also, I believe there are two grounding straps on the back side of the intake. Don't think those are related to the starter, but I'm not 100% on that.

When you jumped it, did you connect the cable to the negative post of your battery or did you ground it somewhere in the engine compartment?

04LaneKJ: 117k. battery is around 30k miles old.

Snail Farmer: I connected to the negative post of the battery. I'll check grounding straps. Local club members are saying my OPS might be buggered. Would that cause it to not start tho?

I'm still confused as to why it started 30 seconds before it wouldn't start no problem. All i did was move it, turn it off and try to turn it on again and nothing.

Something in the starting setup is messed up. Jeeps are moody. Search around on the forum, there's plenty of threads with people who have had similar issues.

Basically, there are several reasons why a vehicle won't start. But the starter should still turn over. If you're not even getting a click when you turn the key, that points to not getting power. Do your lights come on at all? Do you have power to anything? If you have power to lights, etc. then the most likely cause is the starter solenoid. The solenoid is connected to the starter on the Liberty. The easiest way to test it would be to turn the key to the "on" position, then connect the two posts on the starter solenoid with an insulated screwdriver. If it starts, the solenoid is the problem.

I can't find the solenoid points on the starter...starter doesn't click or anything.

After i get the OPS replaced today, if that doesn't work i'll work with the starter.

I know very little about how our jeeps work but the other day I was leaving one of my presentations and Mr. Darcy would not start, no lights, no click, nothing. Somebody came up, wiggled the battery connectors, and that solved it. He said it may have had a loose connection or be in a bad mood, but it's great when amazingly simple techniques like that get him running again.

I installed my new part, to no avail. Biting the bullet and tow truck is on it's way to take me heep across the street so they can solve the issue for me...I hate going to mechanics...never actually had to, always was able to do the repairs myself. Oh well.

OK the guy says it's a pin that connects the cylander lock to the electrics has broken and the only way to fix it is to replace the steering column, $710 bucks. i think he's off his ******* rocker. looking at my manual now to see if i can find the issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Found a company online that has a good replacement for 200 bucks, going to order it, and somehow get my car back from the shop and replace it myself. not paying them $1000 bucks to replace my steering column
